Purpose of the Post:

  • To provide a 0.5 wte dietetic service to the Paediatric Diabetes Team in the Regional Hospital Mullingar. Working in close collabertaion with the clinical specialist dietitian & the paediatric diabetes team.
  • Provide 0.1 wte clinical service to either adults or paediatrics in the Regional Hopsital Mullingar, depending on the candidates experience and as agreed with the Dietitian Manager.
  • To contribute to the development and delivery of a dynamic and effective services to children, parents/ guardians and families attending both inpatients and outpatients paediatric diabetes services.
  • To be an active member of the Nutrition & Dietetic dept in RHM and to contribute to its development & planning.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualifications and/ or experience

Candidates must at the latest date of application:

1.Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc

(a)

Candidates for appointment must:

(i)

Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Dietitian by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU.

And

(ii)

Have 3 years full time (or an aggregate of 3 years full time) post qualification dietetic experience.

And

(iii)

Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

And

(iv)

Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Dietitians Register maintained by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.

2.Annual Registration

(i) On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Dietitians Register maintained by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU.

And

(ii) Practitioners confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).

3. Health

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

4. Character

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

Post Specific Requirements:

- Demonstrate depth and breadth of knowledge and experience in the delivery of dietetic services as relevant to the role as senior dietitian in paediatric diabetes.

- Completion of/ commitment to undertaking Behavioural Change Training
