What is the Role:

The Risk Function in AIB is an independent, second line of defence function that monitors, controls and supports risk-taking activities across AIB. The purpose of the Risk Function is to provide advice and guidance in relation to risk while providing independent oversight and reporting on AIB’s risk profile.

The Risk Assurance & Validation (RAV) function are a second line risk function responsible for providing effective monitoring of risk-taking activities across AIB via an integrated assurance model. The team engages with senior stakeholders within the organisation and there are plenty of opportunities to obtain great exposure and experience across all areas of the Bank. Financial Risk Assurance is a dynamic team within RAV, playing a key role in informing senior management and the Board about risk management and the effectiveness of the control environment. Financial Risk Assurance conducts assurance reviews to support the assessment of risk profiles, including Financial Risk, Capital Adequacy Risk, Funding & Liquidity Risk, and Markey and Equity Risk. This is achieved by providing assurance over risk frameworks and policies, and by assessing the management, design, and operating effectiveness of key risks and controls.

We're looking for someone who can:

  • Assist the review manager in defining review scope, test strategy, and executing testing.
  • Engage professionally and efficiently with business areas and key stakeholders.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing to identify issues.
  • Articulate issues identified in a clear, factual, and objective manner.
  • Support the review manager in preparing and agreeing detailed final review reports for senior management.
  • Contribute to committee and board reports to keep senior management informed of key issues.

What you Will Bring ; 

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Compliance, Risk Management, or Audit within a banking environment, with a clear understanding of control and risk management methodologies, financial services products, governance and regulations.
  • 3rd level qualification (Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent), preferably in a business or finance related discipline;
  • An analytical mind-set, with ability to draw out key messages/insights from financial and management reports or data;
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a small team, with attention to detail, completing tasks to a high standard within agreed deadlines.
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: Financial reporting, Capital Adequacy Risk, Funding & Liquidity Risk, or Market and Equity Risk.
