About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an RDA Technician to join a team of passionate food experts developing new products in our Pan Europe Meat and Meat Alternatives team.

In this role you will be working as part of the Meat RD&A team based in Naas, supporting a team of Technologists to develop products in line with customer expectations and deadlines.You will be joining a motivated and connected team where you can grow and develop in a dynamic and growing business.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting the wider team by preparing samples for internal assessment and dispatch to customers (with relevant supporting documentation) within agreed timelines.
  • Preparation of finished products for internal tastings/sensory assessments and dispatch to customers.
  • Carrying out validation trials to assess the suitability of our Foundational Technologies in Meat applications.
  • Carrying out sensory evaluations and collaborating with Sensory & Consumer Product Research (SCPR) team.
  • Supporting and leading pilot plant trials, including the preparation of recipes, manufacture of samples, running of the trials and preparation of post-trial reports.
  • Supporting the Commercialisation process by ensuring Gold Standard recipe samples are made and dispatched to production sites in a timely manner, ensuring we meet our KPIs.
  • Managing raw materials in the laboratory, including stock management, ordering of raw materials from external sites and maintenance of raw material traceability documentation.
  • Participate in internal audit of the lab, lab deep cleaning events, regular lab checks.
  • Assessment and validation of new raw materials, from existing and new suppliers to enable cost optimization in recipes.
  • Attending weekly team meetings, providing updates on workload and priorities to the wider team.
  • Working within set ways of working, including documentation of laboratory work, pilot plant work and keeping up to date with project administration.

Qualifications and skills

  • Leaving Certificate qualification. Further qualification in food-related discipline is an advantage, but not essential.
  • Laboratory experience
  • Have a passion for food and the ability to confidently present information and food products to your team. Demonstrates creativity, practical skills & enjoyment of food.
  • Organisational skills.
  • Full training will be provided.
  • Teamwork is essential, the role requires excellent interpersonal and rapport-building skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to share learnings, manage timelines & feedback results.
  • Good organisational and PC skills and knowledge of MS Office (Word/Excel).
