Rural Recreation Officer
South Kerry Development Partnership CLG. invites applications for the above position.
The Rural Recreation Officer shall coordinate and oversee the management and enhancement of trails, to assist in the marketing and promotion of other trails in the region and to assist local communities develop new routes as agreed by South Kerry Development Partnership CLG. The Rural Recreation Officer, working with a broad range of stakeholders, will support the development, enhancement & maintenance of outdoor recreation infrastructure in South Kerry. The Rural Recreation Officer will take full responsibility for the management & administration of the Walks Scheme in South Kerry.
Applicants must:
• Possess a good knowledge of and an interest in countryside recreation & trails development
• Possess a recognised qualification (Degree/Diploma) in Rural/Community Development/Outdoor Recreation or equivalent professional qualification in an allied field of expertise
• Possess experience of trail monitoring & maintenance
• Possess an excellent understanding of the needs of Farmer & Landowners and have at least 12 months experience of engaging and working with farmers
• Possess a thorough understanding of the Walks Scheme
• Have at least 12 months experience of working in community & voluntary organisations in either a professional or voluntary capacity
• Possess excellent communication & interpersonal skills
• Have the ability to work effectively with a network of individuals and organisations
The position is full time (37.5 hours per week) and will be based at the Partnership’s Offices at both West Main Street, in Cahersiveen and in Library Place, Killorglin, Co. Kerry. The successful candidate may apply for a Hybrid method of working upon successful completion of the probationary period.
The contract period will run until December 31st 2028. The contract may be extended thereafter on an annual basis – subject to funding. The salary scale for this position will be €38,083 - €43,254 per annum for a 37.5 hour week, with entry point dependent on qualifications & experience. Appointment to this role is subject to the candidate’s eligibility to work in Ireland.
