Position Description

The successful candidate will work as the custodian and subject matter expert in relation to assurance aspects of SHE governance, reporting and performance. 

The successful candidate should be a team player working seamlessly in tandem with the other safety specialists in the team, with the ability to work into the wider business line and across the SHE function. They will be required to work autonomously, be flexible, be a self-starter and good problem solving and influencing skills.

Applications are invited for the position of Safety Assurance Specialist. The purpose of this role is to provide safety assurance and compliance support to the Generation and Trading (GT) Business Line in ESB. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Development, delivery and maintenance of the GT Safety Assurance Framework and processes 

  • Production and delivery of Monthly and Quarterly Assurance analysis and reports to GT SMT and other internal stakeholders

  • Management & support of Safety Management Systems (SMS) compliance & lessons learned sharing across GT & Central Safety Management 

  • Direct support to Manager, Safety Support in the development and periodic review of GT Safety Strategy, Policy Frameworks, Business Plan and GT Safety Improvement Plan 

  • Internal and external Audit Programme development, management and co-ordination 

  • Management of Contracts for Safety Management System Certification and Contractor Induction System Contract for GT 

  • Subject matter expert & GT change control board representative for Synergi Life 

  • Support to Sub-Co Directors on Directors Responsibilities in their Health & Safety Policy Statements and related matters 

  • Leading and Managing Team Member(s) of Safety Assurance team. Provide Safety Support to GT Central Functions and Trading

  • Lead and co-ordinate the Health & Well-Being Champions within GT 

Experience and Qualifications 

Essential 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a health, safety or environment role 

  • Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent experience 

  • Experience in implementation of Safety Management Systems and/or auditing

  • Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills are essential

  • Ability to work independently or as a collaborative team member

  • Strong presentation skills

Desirable

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent 

  • Expert in Auditing and/or SMS management highly desirable 

  • Experience in any of the areas of Power Plant or large industrial process design, construction, maintenance, operation, overhaul, technologies and systems would be beneficial

  • Auditing qualification e.g. ISO 450001 Lead Auditor 

Location

This position will be based in ESB Head Office, 27 Fitzwilliam, Dublin 2.

Reporting To 

This role reports to the SHE Manager Generation & Trading & Customer Solutions.

Salary 

€57,500 - €68,000 per annum depending on experience.
