Sales Assistant

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To co-operate with the Pharmacist/Store Manager responsible for the efficient and safe operation of the pharmacy.

Greet customers courteously and assist with general inquiries professionally, escalating issues when necessary.

Support sales of all products and assist with organising monies for bank lodgements and till floats as necessary.

Direct customers to the pharmacist for prescription-related or medical advice when necessary.

Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and handle transactions accurately.

Stock shelves, rotate products, and check expiry dates.

Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the pharmacy, including floors, shelves, kitchen, and toilets.

Assist with inventory control and receiving deliveries.

Follow pharmacy policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality standards.

Key holder (if required) – open/close shop.

Undertake any training for the role as deemed necessary by the Company.

Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the Store/Pharmacy Manager as and when required. This includes additional dispensary duties as follows:

• Receiving prescriptions from customers

• Preparing prescriptions under the direction of the Pharmacist

• Using dispensary and stores computer systems to generate stock lists and labels

• Helping to maintain reasonable dispensary stock levels

• Ordering items for use within the Pharmacy under the direction of the Pharmacist

JOB SPECIFICATION

Education

GCSE Maths and English – Grades A–C

Experience

Previous retail experience.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate numeracy and accuracy skills required for a retail environment.

Customer-focused and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
