Senior Analyst, Decarbonisation Division

As a Senior Analyst in the Decarbonisation Division, the successful candidate(s) will be involved in a varied role working in areas such as policy, economic, technical and regulatory activities. Key to the role is the ability to analyse complex challenges/data, provide insights to management, work to tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Leading and delivering on projects within the energy sector (offshore in particular) as delegated by the manager;
• Researching and preparing information and decision papers for the Commission;
• Developing new regulatory policies and managing the associated public consultations;
• Procuring and managing external consultants to provide expert input to projects and decisions of the Commission;
• Maintaining an awareness of policy developments and best practice within the energy industry and related industries both in Ireland and internationally;
• Dealing with internal and external stakeholders in a positive manner in order to further CRU objectives;
• Engaging with EU/international counterparts on EU policy or sector developments, as required;
• Mentoring Analysts and Graduate Analysts within the Commission and conducting knowledge transfer sessions in order to share knowledge, expertise and learnings;
• Working as a member of a team and leading specific project teams, as required;
• Carrying out such other functions as may be required from time to time to fulfil the business objectives of the CRU and as appropriate to the grade.

The above list is not exhaustive. While the successful candidate will be assigned to a particular team within the CRU, they will also have the opportunity to contribute to the work of the wider Division/CRU as requirements dictate.

The CRU may establish a shortlist of suitable candidates for potential future positions that may arise within the organisation.

Essential Requirements

Candidates must have on or before the closing date for applications the following:

• An honours degree, NFQ Level 8 equivalent, in a relevant discipline (including but not limited to energy, economics, engineering, science, law, finance, regulatory policy, business, accountancy).
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the energy sector in the area of renewables, electricity, utilities, consulting, research or other relevant role.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience in drafting reports, policy or other professional documents.
• Knowledge/experience of existing and developing policy/trends in the energy sector.
• Experience of analysing, summarising and communicating qualitative/quantitative information.
