The Role
As Senior Auditor, you will take responsibility for audit engagements from the initial planning stage through to completion. You will manage the day-to-day delivery of assignments, liaise directly with clients and work closely with the Practice Partners to ensure audits are completed efficiently, to a high standard and within agreed timelines.
A key part of the role will also be supporting, supervising and mentoring junior team members and helping them develop their audit and professional skills.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning, managing and completing audit assignments from commencement through to finalisation.
- Taking ownership of the audit process and ensuring assignments are delivered to a consistently high standard.
- Working closely with the Audit Partner on audit planning, technical matters, key judgements and completion.
- Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact throughout audit engagements.
- Identifying and resolving audit issues as they arise, escalating significant or complex matters where appropriate.
- Reviewing the work of junior team members and providing clear, constructive feedback.
- Supervising, coaching and mentoring junior staff and contributing to their professional development.
- Ensuring audit work is completed in accordance with relevant auditing and accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Managing assignments effectively to meet deadlines and agreed budgets.
- Contributing positively to the wider team and supporting the continued development of our audit practice.
About You
The successful candidate will have comprehensive audit experience and be comfortable taking responsibility for an audit engagement and seeing it through from planning to completion.
Experience auditing clients within the Charity / Not-for-Profit sector, including the application of the FRS 102 Charities SORP, would be a distinct advantage.
You will ideally have:
- Strong, hands-on experience across all stages of the external audit process.
- Strong technical knowledge of auditing and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience managing audit assignments and dealing directly with clients.
- The ability to identify issues, exercise sound professional judgement and develop practical solutions.
- Experience supervising, reviewing and mentoring junior members of an audit team.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative approach and a genuine willingness to support colleagues and contribute to the wider team.
- A high level of professionalism, integrity and attention to detail.
- A proven ability to effectively present financial information (audit findings or the results of other financial reporting assignments) to client Boards, Audit and Risk Committees, or other finance sub-committees.
