Senior Backup & Disaster Recovery Specialist

About This Role:

The role of Senior Backup & Disaster Recovery Specialist requires a technical resource with 7+ years of experience in backup & disaster recovery technologies covering pre-sales, design, and implementation. An architecture-level accreditation in solution design is also required. This role reports into the Head of Cloud Services as the majority of our backup services are based in and delivered from Digital Planet private cloud or Azure public cloud.

Expectations From The Role:

Responsibility for the technical direction and future roadmap of all eir business backup services delivered from Digital Planet, Pre-Sales, and Managed services departments.

Annually review the latest vendor backup solutions to ensure eir business are consuming the best technical products in the market as it relates to backup and replication

Responsibility for liaising with all dept. heads to advise and direct on a range of backup technologies to be delivered and serviced by eir business, as well as working with department heads on the training and staffing requirements to deliver agreed services.

Responsible for the managed service operating best practices to ensure the teams have an operating model designed to achieve the best performance possible

Liaising with transition teams to ensure correct on boarding of customers into backup services.

Responsibility for the correct licensing and reporting of backup software usage in Digital Planet.

Liaising with backup software partner managers on the correct provision of agreements to usurer availability of backup software as a platform for eir business services.

Responsibility for the correct architecture of all Digital Planet backup solutions and services.

Work with partner management teams to establish and maintain the requirements to meet backup vendor partner levels. Attending web sessions, lectures/training sessions, and vendor events to ensure correct level of knowledge of a wide range of backup technologies available in the market to ensure eir business services remain relevant to the market and its customers.

Work with marketing and sales departments to advice and decide on correct campaigns and strategies to ensure eir business services align with the marketing and sales messaging.

Responsible for providing pre-sales, tender response, and architecture services depending on eir business requirements.

· Working as lead engineer on large or complex projects if required.

· Providing oversight for all backup engineers across departments for technical direction and escalation of high-level issues.

· Providing advice and direction to sales teams on correct licensing models and renewal considerations based on the latest licensing requirements from backup vendors.

Requirements For A Successful Application:

· Setup and on boarding of O365, BAAS and S3 customers

· Updates and upgrades for all DP backup systems

· Working with DP team to develop and administer reporting to ensure all servers are backed up.

· Resolve issues with backup solution and keep systems in good working order.

· Complete documentation and quarterly reviews

· Complete test restores in line with backup policy.

· VMCE accreditation required.
