What is the Role
A Senior Data Engineer/Analyst designs and leads a small team of engineers with a primary focus of developing and maintaining in house applications. Application focus is primarily to enhance and streamline the SDLC used within the department.
The Data Engineering team forms part of the Data Engineering and Architecture area within the Centre of Excellence for Data and Analytics at AIB.
Our Data Engineering Team develops applications that are an integral part of the build out of the CD/CI pipeline.
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for the successful candidate to expand the team’s ability to deliver data products in a best in class infrastructure where data and analytical tooling integrate deeply.
Key accountabilities:
- Lead technical design of model architecture and frameworks
- Develop and Deploy robust, scalable and supportable solutions
- Be first point of contact and provide Technical Leadership to a Squad of Data Engineers
- Be a people leader and support personal and career development of direct reports
- Engage with stakeholders and ensure tasks are prioritised in line with the ExCo Priorities
What you Will Bring:
- Minimum of bachelor degree in a discipline incorporating: information management related disciplines or quantitative analytical techniques, e.g., Software Engineering, Data and Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics;
- Experience as a data analyst or software developer in a relevant area, with knowledge of the software development lifecycle and IT change management.
- A strong understanding of Testing methodologies and pipelines. Relevant experience in CI/CD in an enterprise environment. Experience in development and maintenance of automated testing frameworks and pipelines a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with expertise and knowledge of data integration technologies.
- Relevant experience using SQL in a RDBMS environment like Teradata, Oracle, SqlServer or similar.
- Strong design and development experience using Python and associated tooling and libraries.
- Strong communication skills with a proven track record of articulating complex concepts/results in simple language;
- Experience of leading junior team members;
- Familiarity with Agile Delivery Methodology advantageous
