Base: Initial base CUH Dietetics Department (for training). Transition to hybrid model with part-time base CUH and part-time out-reach to local Childrens Disability Network Teams in Cork city and county.
Salary: The 9 point salary scale for the post as of 01/08/2025:
€63,912, €65,275, €66,681, €68,073, €69,467, €70,933, €72,478, €74,018, €75,254
New appointees to any grade start at the minimum point of the scale. Incremental credit will be applied for recognised relevant service in Ireland and abroad (Department of Health Circular 2/2011). Incremental credit is normally granted on appointment, in respect of previous experience in the Civil Service, Local Authorities, Health Service and other Public Service Bodies and Statutory Agencies.
Description
This represents an exciting opportunity for experienced and motivated dietitians to work with children under the care of Childrens Disability Network Teams (CDNTs) in Cork city and county. The successful candidates will deliver an evidence-based, high quality nutrition and dietetic service to children with multiple and complex disabilities who are on home enteral nutrition. The goal is that dietetic care transfers from CUH to local CDNTs. Training and support will be provided by CUH Dietetics Department with the initial base for the posts being CUH. Following this, an outreach model of service delivery will develop with allocated clinics taking place locally within CDNTs across the city and county.
Along with clinical responsibilities for children on home enteral nutrition, the postholders will also contribute to needs assessment and business case development, as part of a service development plan for Dietetics across CDNTs in Cork/Kerry.
Further career progression opportunities may arise in the future in respect of the expansion of the service across Cork/Kerry.
Applicants must possess the following:
Essential:
- A recognised dietetic qualification and current registration with CORU.
- A minimum of three years post qualification experience.
- On application candidates must have an up to date valid work permission and be eligible to work in Ireland.
- An understanding of the needs of children with physical disability, intellectual disability and/or autism.
- A high level of clinical knowledge, understanding and experience of nutrition interventions required in a variety of clinical specialities within paediatrics.
- Significant experience in enteral feeding.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Full drivers licence and access to own car.
Desirable:
- Experience in paediatric dietetics / disability.
- Flexibility and strong teamwork skills.
- Good leadership & management skills.
- Good organisational skills with an ability to prioritise.
- Experience in management of a complex caseload.
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary environment /team
- A strong interest in on-going learning and professional development.
- Experience in service development.
- Research and audit skills.
