 Our Store Development team is a key element to our continued success and we currently have a vacancy for a Senior Electrical Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join our Store Development team.

The Senior Electrical Engineer will have the following responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for management of all electrical services across the estate, including HV and LV distribution, lighting, small power, standby generation, UPS systems, EV charging infrastructure, and integration with BMS/controls.
  • Responsibility for management of fire alarm systems ensuring estate wide compliance with the relevant standards.
  • Responsibility for management of intruder, cctv ,access control and loss prevention systems across the estate.
  • Draft detailed written specifications for all areas of electrical services, from new installations and store fit-outs through to repairs, upgrades and ongoing maintenance.
  • Put in place all necessary electrical maintenance contracts (including PPM, thermographic surveys, fixed wire testing, emergency lighting and PAT testing) to ensure that services are always in good order. Manage all day-to-day repair issues and monitor contractor performance.
  • Prepare a multi-year capital program to upgrade and replace existing electrical infrastructure (switchgear, distribution boards, lighting, generators, etc.) in line with the developing needs of the business.
  • Prepare budgets for annual expenditure on electrical repairs, maintenance, and capital projects. Budgets to be supported by paybacks/business cases where appropriate. Following approval, ensure that budget discipline is maintained and company procedures are followed.
  • Manage all electrical projects from approval to completion. Ensure the programmes are met, budgets achieved and quality is maintained.
  • Work with all other internal departments on cross-functional projects and day-to-day electrical repairs. Appoint and manage external electrical design teams and consultants where required.
  • Ensure that all projects are adequately resourced with clear lines of communication and responsibility.
  • Advise the company on legislative duties and responsibilities relating to electrical safety and compliance (ETCI/IS 10101, BS 7671, IEC standards, and Safety, Health and Welfare at Work regulations) and always ensure compliance with same.
  • Reduce electrical energy usage across the portfolio through LED retrofits, smart metering, power factor correction and other initiatives, while not compromising the customer experience or staff comfort.

Requirements:

  • Excellent technical knowledge of all areas of electrical engineering, including HV/LV distribution, lighting design, standby power, and EV charging.
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). Chartered Engineer status is an advantage.
  • 10+ years relevant experience.
  • Experience of working at a senior level in a large organisation.
  • Client-side experience in a retail environment is an advantage.
  • Strong working knowledge of ETCI/IS 10101, BS 7671 and other relevant electrical standards and legislation.
  • Good organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and numerical ability.
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
