As an Senior Ingres Developer, you will be responsible for all technical aspects as they relate to the specific team to which you are assigned; including providing support and guidance for technical changes, undertaking necessary research into new and emerging technologies and assessing how they can influence and drive the technology direction for the team.
This senior ingres developer role will ensure there is a central point of contact and consistency for the design approach of all Projects and will work closely with Project teams to ensure that solutions are `fit for purpose¿ and `best in class¿; meeting key commercial and strategic initiatives of the bank.
Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Develop and maintain an environment of innovation and continuous improvement, focusing on quality, cost reduction and process development.
- Support the IT Management team in implementing changes in processes and systems to deliver productivity and service improvements.
Main Activities
- Work to maintain and improve our service quality and standards.
- Create and ensure Technical Design documents for the Asset Finance application are current and relevant.
Risk Management
- Identify and control risks in advance and make suggestions to team about how to mitigate against risks.
- Maintain awareness of all compliance, regulatory and legal directives and support development of approaches to minimise risk and potential damage to our reputation.
Requirements:
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills, teamwork.
- An ability to learn and understand complex business processes.
- Capability to work on their own initiative in a demanding environment.
- Working knowledge of system development / architectural / technology frameworks.
- Demonstrable detailed knowledge of IT processes, procedures and standards.
- Experience planning, organising and prioritising work in a busy working environment.
- Demonstrate positive experience of fostering change and adoption of new ways of working
- Strong development experience in all of the following or similar Java, Spring/Springboot.
- Designing screens, flows, objects and data structures
- Creating/maintaining Unix C extract/import processes and batch files
- Recommending solutions to existing design issues
- Creating/maintaining Ingres screens and objects
- Creating/maintaining SQL scripts for the Ingres DB
- Creating/maintaining all business documentation, full life cycle.
- Working experience with Oracle and Unix
- Experience in the development and maintenance of applications on Ingres (10+) and HP-UX (11+) Operating Systems.
- Knowledge and experience of Agile and Lean software development practices.
- DB Concepts ¿ Preferred, ORACLE 12+
- Experience in the following 3rd Party Tools/Technologies: - SQL/Plus - PL/SQL
- Experience in some or all of the following would be very helpful: - SQL IDE (E.g. TOAD, SQL Developer), Knowledge of DevOps/CI-CD methodology.
- Experience in Release Automation/deployment automation.
- Experience with Bitbucket, TeamCity, JIRA, Nexus
