Senior International Student Ambassador
Essential Qualifications and Skills Minimum Candidates must: • at time of application, be an international student of ATU, who applied via the international office (ATU Global), enrolled on a fulltime undergraduate or taught postgraduate programme or recent graduate with appropriate immigration permission to facilitate working up to 17.5 hours per week. • have the requisite knowledge, skills and competencies to carry out the role to a high standard; • have obtained at least Grade O6 (formerly D3) in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalent or have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher or have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise;
Desirable • Evidence of previous engagement in student recruitment, marketing or student led events (highly desirable). • Previous ATU international student ambassador volunteer experience (highly desirable) • Experience in social media marketing, e.g., content creation; vlogs; blogs (highly desirable). • Excellent communication & ICT skills. • Ability to work on own initiative, manage own workload and work within a team. • Effective problem-solving skills.
Job Description
The successful applicant(s) will a) have an in-person on campus presence on any ATU campus, b) report to the ATU International Manager and c) act as a link person between the ATU international student body and the ATU Global office, to improve all aspects of ATU international student life and pastoral care support, whilst striving to continually improve intercultural awareness and competence among the general ATU student and staff population. The role will also require the successful applicant to coordinate and promote on and off-campus intercultural events and will necessitate effective collaboration with other Senior International Student Ambassadors located across the ATU campuses. The postholder will also be responsible for the co-ordination of all ATU international volunteer student ambassadors and Education in Ireland international student ambassadors.
Duties Specific to the Role The successful applicant will: • act as project lead managing all ATU voluntary International Student Ambassadors ISAs, and Education in Ireland international student ambassadors • create engaging digital media (vlogs; blogs) content for ATU promotional purposes across all ATU social media channels. • assist with the creation of ATU on and off-line marketing collateral. • assist with the arrival and onboarding of all new international students. • assist with the organisation and coordination of all VIP international visitors to ATU. • collaborate with Senior International Student Ambassadors across ATU for the effective organisation, promotion and hosting of both on and offcampus intercultural and recreational events. • travel on behalf of ATU Global (maximum of 2 weeks) when required to promote ATU to prospective international students and partner institutions. • provide an excellent pastoral care service to the ATU international student body, referring international students where necessary to student counselling, health and academic support services. • help ATU fulfil its pastoral care commitments as contained within the TrustEd Ireland International Education Mark (IEM) code of practice. • manage the collection and evaluation of feedback, using a variety of methods and undertake project work as required to support the continuous improvement of the international student experience. • perform such others as may be assigned from time to time by the International Manager or Head of Function (ATU Global).
Salary Scale
The full-time salary attached to this post is €30,811 Salary will be pro-rated in line with the contract. Hours of Work 17.5 Hours per week
