The Opportunity

We are now seeking Senior Lead Project Engineers to join our Connection Projects (Southern Region) team in our new Cork office.This is an exciting opportunity for a customer focussed, resilient and motivated individual who is interested in working with the Connection Projects (Southern Region) team to deliver key infrastructure projects for some of the biggest companies in the world. These customers are critical to Ireland from many aspects including the achievement of our renewable targets and to continuation of sustainable economic growth for the country.As Senior Lead Project Engineer, your role will involve facilitating the connection of new generation, demand and interconnection customers to the transmission system. You will work on projects across their entire life cycle – from project initiation, through construction and commissioning and right up to project close. We will look to you to project manage a portfolio of complex, high profile customer projects – working with some of the largest companies in the world to deliver grid connections to meet their needs.As part of your role, we will look to you to lead strategic, change related projects and support the development of high-performance capabilities and behaviours within the team

The Team

The Chief Infrastructure Office (CIO) within EirGrid comprises highly skilled professionals with backgrounds in engineering and business/commerce. The CIO is responsible for leading the development and delivery of the power system and interconnection investment programmes, in collaboration with partners, customers & communities. The Connection Projects (Southern Region) team is responsible for the delivery of electricity generation, demand and interconnection customer connections to the transmission system. This includes the delivery of transmission works for power generation and demand customer connections at distribution voltage levels.

About you

Successful candidates will have:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent, typically with 6-8 years relevant experience with a holistic understanding of the power industry
  • Proven experience of managing a portfolio of largescale projects – overseeing the delivery of complex solutions and an ability to drive successful outcomes
  • Passionate, engaging with a drive and enthusiasm to deliver on the company Strategy with and through others
  • Excellent communicator, able to articulate technical concepts and analysis to non-technical audiences and business leaders 
  • Ability to coach and develop high performance capabilities in a changing and dynamic environment
  • Expertise in conceiving and introducing innovative ideas, solutions or new ways of doing things to solve business problems, collaborating with business experts along the way
  • Strong understanding of the requirements of stakeholders and industry for the transmission system and associated developments
  • Commercial awareness with strong vendor management skills.
  • Full drivers licence
