Your Role: 

The Senior Manager Cyber Strategy is a pivotal leadership role within the Bank¿s CISRO function, responsible for shaping, implementing, and advancing the organisation¿s Cyber and Information Security Strategy. Reporting to the Enterprise Security Architecture Senior Manager, this role is central to safeguarding the Bank¿s operations against evolving cyber threats, reducing operational risk, and ensuring robust compliance with regulatory obligations, including the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA). The role also involves the direct management of a small team, including contractors and technical delivery managers, ensuring the team¿s effective contribution to strategic initiatives and project delivery.

Your Team:

This role is part of the Enterprise Security Architecture team, within the CISRO division. Reporting to the Enterprise Security Architect, Senior Manager.

The Senior Manager Cyber Strategy operates within the CISRO function, which includes the following teams:

  • Cyber Protection (comprising Cyber Defence, Engineering, UIAM)
  • Technology Governance
  • Technology Assurance
  • Cyber and InfoSec Risk

Close collaboration with these teams is essential to ensure cohesive delivery of the Bank¿s cyber security programme, effective risk management, and alignment of strategic objectives.

Your Responsibilities:

The Senior Manager Cyber Strategy provides strategic direction and operational leadership for the Bank¿s cyber security agenda. The role ensures the definition, maintenance, and execution of a forward-looking Cyber and Information Security Strategy, aligning with both technology and wider bank strategic objectives. The incumbent will drive continuous improvement in cyber maturity, reduce operational risk, steer the Bank¿s response to a hostile threat landscape, and manage a dedicated team supporting these objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the Bank to define, update, and maintain the Cyber and Information Security Strategy.
  • Lead the implementation of the strategy through the cyber roadmap, ensuring alignment with regulatory, technological, and organisational priorities.
  • Oversee cost management and resource allocation for cyber strategy initiatives, ensuring optimal use of budget and personnel.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reporting and programme steering updates to senior management and relevant governance forums.
  • Maintain and enhance formal procedures for strategy development, including structured integration of inputs from cyber maturity assessments, resilience testing, incident lessons learned, simulations, horizon risk analysis, technology strategy, and bank strategy.
  • Support the Bank¿s compliance with DORA and other relevant regulatory requirements, ensuring the cyber strategy is current and effective.
  • Monitor the cyber threat landscape, adjusting strategy and priorities as required to address new and emerging risks.
  • Foster a collaborative culture within the CISRO function and participate in cross-functional initiatives to enhance the Bank¿s overall cyber resilience.
  • Lead and manage a small team comprising employees, contractors, and technical delivery managers, ensuring clear direction, effective performance management, and development of team members to meet strategic goals.

Functional Strategy & Delivery

  • Define, maintain, and evolve the Bank¿s Cyber and Information Security Strategy, ensuring clear alignment with enterprise technology strategy and wider bank objectives.
  • Translate strategic objectives into a prioritised cyber roadmap, driving effective execution across programmes, initiatives, and change portfolios.

Risk Management & Control

  • Embed a risk¿based approach into cyber strategy development and execution, ensuring focus on the Bank¿s most material cyber and information security risks.
  • Support and enable compliance with DORA and other relevant regulatory requirements, ensuring the strategy demonstrably strengthens operational resilience.

Lead an inspiring Culture

  • Provide strong, visible leadership to foster a collaborative, accountable, and high¿performance culture within the cyber strategy function.
  • Lead and develop a small, diverse team of employees, contractors, and technical delivery managers, setting clear direction and expectations.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across technology, risk, operations, and business functions.
  • Influence and align multiple stakeholders to ensure shared ownership of cyber strategic priorities and outcomes.

Requirements: 

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing enterprise-wide cyber and information security strategies within complex financial services environments.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, particularly DORA and related financial sector obligations.
  • Expertise in cyber maturity assessments, resilience testing, incident management, and risk analysis.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage budgets, and drive strategic initiatives to completion.
  • Previous experience in managing small teams, including direct reports, contractors, and technical delivery managers.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills at senior levels.
  • Professional certifications in information security or cyber risk (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CRISC) are highly desirable.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking, with a track record of delivering measurable improvements in cyber maturity and operational resilience.
