Senior Music Therapist
Purpose of the Role
The post holder will provide a comprehensive music therapy service to children with a wide range of needs, admitted to CHI as a result of acquired brain injury, neurological disorders, craniofacial conditions and other medical conditions.
Professional Duties and Responsibilities:
- The post holder will be expected to live CHI values and be child-centered, compassionate, progressive and will act with respect, excellence and integrity.
- Be responsible for a clinical caseload, specifically for infants, children and young people attending, but not limited to, the following services: Neurosurgery, Neuro- rehabilitation, palliative care & the paediatric intensive care unit.
- Provide holistic assessment and appropriate music therapy interventions, taking into account the impact of the child’s diagnosis on their ability to perform functional activities.
- Lead out and deliver on an assigned music therapy clinical project, working closely with members of the multidisciplinary teams.
- Plan and deliver music therapy assessment, intervention and evaluation in accordance to professional standards and in line with local policy.
- Facilitate both individual and group music therapy sessions, both at bedside and in the music therapy department where appropriate.
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum 3 years full time post qualification experience working with infants, children or adolescents in a Music Therapy role.
- Master’s qualification in Music Therapy.
- Current professional membership of IACAT or BAMT.
- Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrates a high level of musical skill (shortlisted candidates will be required to perform a piece of music at interview).
