Senior Network Engineer
Purpose of the role
The purpose of this post is to provide technical leadership responsibilities for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, wireless, and network access control systems. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with LAN upgrades, HPE Aruba, Compare, and Cisco network technologies. You will also lead network projects and play a key role in maintaining a secure, high-performing, and scalable network environment.
The role will be responsible for:
- Developing and providing best in class, highly available, performant and cost-effective network solutions to CHI on which all other digital services depends
- Managing key vendor relationships and integrating network support processes with wider CHI digital health support processes
- Providing expert knowledge and support to stakeholders of Network solutions.
- Leading and supporting the enhancements, upgrades, and improvements of CHI’s network solutions.
- Align local requirements with CHI’s strategic direction ensuring the delivery of network support meets the needs of all CHI facilities.
- Supporting the transitioning from existing Hospitals to new children’s hospital resources and teams.
- Supporting the implementation of the future system architecture of CHI, including the Change Advisory Board.
- Managing and delivering Network Projects as required.
- Supporting the implementation of the EHR, clinical and corporate systems, and dependent technologies as required.
- Participating in key ITIL processes such as the management of change, incidents, problems, and service management.
Essential Criteria
- A third level degree/post-graduate qualification in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Information Technology or Electronic Engineering plus 3 years post qualification experience in a relevant role
Or
- 4+ years’ experience in a relevant and similar role
And
- Knowledge of Firewalls
- Strong Knowledge of Network Switches
- Strong vendor management skills
- Solid understanding of network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in Networks, Routing, Switching and Firewalls.
- Relevant technical qualifications such as Cisco CCNP or HPE equivalent.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience documenting and providing root cause analysis for network issues.
- Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation of network diagrams, configurations, and procedures
