About the Role

ChildVision, the National Education Centre for Children and Young People with visual impairments and complex needs, is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team.

This is a unique opportunity to develop specialist expertise in visual impairment while working with a diverse and rewarding client group ranging from infants to young adults. Previous experience in visual impairment is not required, as comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided.

The successful candidate will work with children and young people aged 0–25 years who have visual impairments, often alongside additional disabilities and complex needs. As part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in assessment, intervention planning, and service delivery, supporting children and families to achieve meaningful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Clinical Lead, the Senior Occupational Therapist will:

  • Participate in multidisciplinary assessments across a varied caseload of children and young people aged 0–25 years.
  • Conduct occupational therapy assessments and screenings.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised therapy programmes and interventions.
  • Manage and prioritise an independent caseload in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Provide guidance, support, and clinical supervision to Basic Grade Occupational Therapists.
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and interdisciplinary working.
  • Engage with families, educators, and external agencies to support holistic care and intervention planning.

Candidate Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Hold a recognised Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Be registered with CORU or eligible for CORU registration.
  • Have a minimum of three years' post-qualification Occupational Therapy experience suitable for a Senior Grade role.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within disability services, paediatrics, or community-based settings.
  • Experience supporting children and young people with complex needs.

Other Requirements

  • Eligible to work in Ireland
  • Satisfactory Reference Checks and Garda Vetting
  • Available to interview in person
