Senior Physiotherapist In Complex Rehabilitation And Amputees

The job purpose is to:
- To lead and co-ordinate the physiotherapy services for complex rehabilitation and amputees. This includes patients post critical care with complex acute rehabilitation needs and medical and surgical patients with complex rehabilitation needs. These cohorts can include patients with limb absence and under 65 acute/subacute rehabilitation in the Mater Misericordiae University hospital in accordance with the mission, values and strategic plan of the organisation. Please note traumatic amputees are cared for by our trauma team.
- To provide an efficient, high quality gym and ward based physiotherapy service to in-patients presenting with complex conditions, usually with generalised decreased mobility and deconditioning, requiring intensive physiotherapy intervention and management. The service provides intensive physiotherapy intervention for patients presenting with complex rehabilitation needs post-surgical and medical interventions, in order to provide and progress rehabilitation to ensure patients’ goals are maximised, and facilitate transfer to suitable post-acute rehabilitation when available or home in a timely manner.
- To be a key team member of the physiotherapy rehabilitation team, incorporating the development, implementation and delivery of an effective evidence based rehabilitation service. A close working relationship is required with the critical care service in an inreach and outreach model.
- As part of the 2024 strategy for the physiotherapy department, we are always reviewing the way we deliver rehabilitation to our patients and you will be required to lead this service and actively participate in the process of service development and quality improvement for this patient cohort in line with evidence base and departmental strategy.
