Senior Physiotherapist Oncology & Haematology Service
To lead the physiotherapy rehabilitation service for patients with oncology, haematology, and neuro-oncology patients, to ensure the provision of a high standard of physiotherapy assessment, treatment and advice to patients, in order to facilitate timely, safe and effective treatment with appropriate discharge of patients from hospital.
To work in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team to provide therapeutic intervention and discharge planning along the palliative care pathway.
To provide physiotherapy leadership to the rehabilitation team and link closely with the medical and surgical teams, surgical oncology physiotherapy seniors and the wider MDT.
Close collaborative across the physiotherapy department team structure is essential.
To map future acute physiotherapy intervention for oncology patients, including the promotion of physical activity for this cohort, the role of physiotherapy in enhanced recovery pathway, (including pre-habilitation and on-going rehabilitation post discharge) to improve patient outcomes.
