Reporting to the Data Privacy Manager, the Data Privacy Analyst will support the management of the organisation’s data privacy obligations across the business. The role combines hands‑on delivery with advisory responsibility, working closely with stakeholders to embed effective privacy practices and manage data protection risk in a complex retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the end‑to‑end handling of data subject rights requests, including access, deletion, restriction, objection, and related complaints, ensuring timely and compliant responses.
- Oversee the operational management of the data privacy mailbox, including triage and prioritisation of queries, coordination of responses, management of data incident notifications, and support for root cause analysis and remediation activities.
- Support the resolution of privacy‑related queries by analysing issues, assessing risk, preparing recommended responses, and escalating complex or higher‑risk matters to the Data Privacy Manager.
- Maintain, review, and audit records of processing activities (ROPAs) and related privacy documentation.
- Assist with the planning, implementation, and ongoing management of data privacy impact assessments (DPIAs) and other privacy risk assessments.
- Support and contribute to the organisation’s data deletion and retention programmes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure privacy requirements are embedded into projects, system changes, and business processes, including supporting the review and maintenance of vendor Data Processing Agreements (DPAs)
- Support the development, implementation, and review of data privacy policies, procedures, and controls.
- Contribute to data privacy training initiatives and promote a strong data protection culture across the organisation.
- Monitor developments in data protection law and best practice, supporting the Data Privacy Manager by assessing potential business impacts and contributing to guidance where required.
What we are looking for:
- 5+ years’ experience working in data privacy compliance, data protection, risk, or a related regulatory environment.
- Relevant third‑level qualification, with a recognised Data Protection or Privacy certification (or working towards one).
- Strong working knowledge of European data protection laws and practices, including GDPR and associated guidance.
- Demonstrated experience managing data subject rights requests and advising on privacy‑related matters in a pragmatic, business‑focused way.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a structured and detail‑oriented approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across the business.
- Able to work effectively on own initiative while contributing as part of a collaborative team.
- High levels of professionalism, discretion, and integrity when handling sensitive information.
