We are currently seeking a Senior Product Development Manager – Grocery (Food & Non-Food) to join our team. This role is based in our Head Office in Dublin city centre.

The Role

To lead the development, optimisation and innovation of Dunnes Stores’ grocery portfolio across the Dunnes Stores and Simply Better own-brand tiers.

This role is responsible for identifying gaps, developing commercially strong products, and ensuring the overall range remains competitive in the Irish market. The focus is on delivering relevant innovation, protecting margin, and strengthening Dunnes’ position for quality and value.

Core Accountabilities

Product Development – Dunnes Stores & Simply Better

  • Conduct regular market reviews across Ireland and the UK to identify gaps and opportunities within current ranges.
  • Monitor international markets for emerging food and non-food trends that could provide competitive advantage.
  • Develop and maintain a clear 2–3 year product roadmap across assigned categories.
  • Ensure new product development supports the correct balance across value, core and premium tiers.
  • Deliver products that meet agreed margin targets and price architecture requirements.
  • Ensure product attributes (quality level, ingredients, pack format, functionality) are aligned to customer expectations and competitive positioning.

Innovation & Market Leadership

  • Lead innovation across key growth areas including:
  • Translate shopper insight, sales data and competitor benchmarking into commercially viable product launches.
  • Ensure innovation is practical, scalable and appropriate for Dunnes’ customer base.

Brand & Customer Proposition

  • Ensure all product development supports Dunnes Stores’ reputation for:
  • Strengthen the Simply Better premium positioning through product quality and differentiation.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Packaging teams to ensure claims, design and on-pack messaging are clear, compliant and aligned to brand standards.

Experience Required

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Grocery Food or Non-Food product development.
  • Strong commercial awareness with proven category development experience.
  • Experience managing supplier negotiations and development processes.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience using brand compliance systems (e.g., Ziflow or equivalent).
  • Data-led approach to decision making.

Desirable

  • Strong understanding of Irish grocery consumer behaviour.
  • Experience presenting proposals to senior or executive leadership teams.
