About the role

We are recruiting for a Senior Regulatory and Scientific Affairs Manager to join our Taste business here at Kerry! Taste within Kerry is the ultimate enabler of our Sustainable Nutrition strategy and each of our focus areas in Taste such as Sugar & Salt reduction, Savoury taste, Sweet taste, and Dairy taste has a key role to play in delivering sustainable nutrition for our customers.

In this role you will demonstrate the Kerry leadership competencies by being customer focused and building strong relationships delivering customer centric solutions. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strategic mindset, identify future opportunities and work with your peers to help instil into function strategies and to make evidence based regulatory decisions, whilst being able to work in the grey to make insightful business best decisions.

As a people leader you will be responsible for driving the vison and purpose of the function within your team and with internal/ external stakeholders. Using your influencing skills to pursue a meaningful direction, create a vision of the future you want to achieve together. You will lead by example and demonstrate your commitment to the purpose and vision. 

You will have 7 direct reports who are based in Naas- Ireland, Grasse-France, Mozzo-Italy and Runcorn-UK and we are flexible on candidate location over Ireland if you are in a commutable distance to a Kerry site,

What will I be doing?

  • You will be responsible for driving results and ensuring accountability within your team and supporting cross functionally as required. Through collaboration within your team and with external stakeholders you will build strong partnerships working collaboratively to meet shared objectives.
  • Responsible for developing internal talent and aligning career development goals with business objectives. Working with your team to develop a strong high performing team that apply their diverse skills and learnings to achieve a common goal
  • As a R&SA leader you will demonstrate self-awareness by using a combination of feedback and reflection to gain productive insight into personal strengths and weaknesses.
  • Encourage and empower their team to lead proactive engagement with our Taste customers and wider business to use our Scientific affairs expertise and flavour compliance knowledge to differentiate ourselves in the marketplace. Awareness of our competitors Regulatory services and ensuring we are offering a market leading proactive partnership with our key customers.
  • Build a market leading team of Taste subject matter expertise on legislative and regulatory knowledge creating a team that collaborates and network with the wider business in the areas of Food, Meat, Meat alternatives, Beverage and in our Foundational technologies.
  • Ensure that Kerry Taste & Nutrition are represented at relevant regulatory bodies and trade associations, ensuring that we have an external voice at these forums.
  • Cross functional relationship building with regional Business units.
  • Connecting with global peers on improving processes and ways of working.

  • Collaborating with Commercial, RDA, Quality and Marketing to drive the Regulatory and Scientific Affairs agenda within the business.
  • Drive and embed the customer segmentation agreed for the region.
  • Aligning with stakeholders to have a clear path of communication to update on potential changes in the Taste Regulatory and Scientific Affairs landscape that may impact the business.
  • Ability to develop and maintain processes and tools for sharing knowledge and updates with regional stakeholders.
  • Ensure strategies for enhancing the Regulatory and Scientific Affairs service focus with key customers are implemented
  • Support the development, implementation along with monitoring key performance indicators metrics for the function to measure success and to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement and shared learnings within the function in the spirit of streamlining, efficiency, and effectiveness of the team
  • Partnering with global Taste network and experts to share learnings and horizon scanning activities.

What do I need to be succesful?

In Kerry we understand that people have very different career trajectories and experiences. In order to be successful in this role we would be looking for the right competencies and aptitudes as well as your proven track record of success in a similar role and environment. 

These include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical field (or equivalent experience)
  •  Senior taste/ flavour regulatory management experience
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of the food and beverage industry, desirable if experience is within a flavour house or deep knowledge of Taste technologies.
  • Experience with exposure to Senior Leadership.
  • Trade Associations knowledge
  • EU Regulations experience or knowledge
