What is the Role:

The Risk Function is an independent second line of defence function that monitors, controls and supports all risk-taking activities across the Group. The purpose of the Risk Function is to provide advice and guidance in relation to risk while providing independent oversight and reporting on AIB’s risk profile.

The role is positioned within the Enterprise Risk (ER) team where we perform oversight and management over several of the Group’s Material Risks. Within the Business Model Risk team, we provide 2nd line oversight of the Business Model including Financial Plan & Group Strategy.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Assist in the review, challenge and ongoing monitoring of AIB’s Business Model Risk which includes the Group’s Strategy, evaluation of proposed strategic investments, and joint venture oversight.
  • Assist the review and challenge of Financial Plan for Group and material domestic subsidiaries and enhancements to our Risk Review process. Support the processes for identification and assessment of risks within the Group and the licensed subsidiaries.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of appropriate Risk Appetite metrics and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for the Group and Material Subsidiaries as a key risk control.
  • Analyse and manipulate data for thought leadership and presentation purposes.
  • Remain current on industry best practices, emerging trends to anticipate potential risks.

Key accountabilities:

  • Support 2LOD (Second Line of Risk) oversight and review and challenge of Material Risks for Group and domestic subsidiaries, with ongoing risk reporting via the monthly CRO report to the AIB Board.
  • Assist in the Review and Update of the Group’s Risk Appetite Statement (‘RAS’)
  • Provide Business model risk assessment and support in relation to strategic initiatives and other ad hoc reviews as required.
  • Conducting comprehensive risk assessments through horizon scanning, top-down analysis and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Provide a strong attention to detail and analytical mindset with the capacity to identify and prioritise key risks that may impact the Group.
  • Assist in the preparation of risk assessment presentations for senior management, outlining key findings and recommendations.

What you Will Bring.

  • 3+ years’ experience in a Risk centric position preferably including the analysis of financial data
  • 3rd Level Qualification (or equivalent) within Finance, Accountancy or business-related discipline, Accounting qualifications while not a pre requisite are preferred.
  • An understanding of the banking business model and how it links to the broader economic, risk and regulatory environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (incl. Microsoft office, incl. Excel and PowerPoint) with ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and present key messages concisely for senior audiences.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a small team, with strong attention to detail, completing tasks
