The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork and Kerry area.

The Role
The Senior Social Worker will work as part of the Social Work Team for Adult Services Team within the Brothers of Charity Southern Services.
The role of senior social worker in Adult Services is to support persons supported to have opportunities for self-expression and their needs met in all aspects of their lives. Social Work strives to empower people with an intellectual disability to have dignifying relationships and to be included meaningfully in the life of their communities. The senior social worker will be involved in both a multidiscipline and uni-discipline approach to assessing the needs and supporting persons with disability in residential and day services, as well as mentoring and supervision to Social Workers.

The Candidate:
2. Age
The Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Act, 2018* set 70 years as the compulsory retirement age for public
servants.
* Public Servants not affected by this legislation:
Public servants recruited between 1 April 2004 and 31 December 2012 (new entrants) have no compulsory retirement age. Public
servants recruited since 1 January 2013 are members of the Single Pension Scheme and have a compulsory retirement age of 70.
3. Health
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the
office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
4. Character
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
5. Driving
Candidates must have a full driving licence which qualifies them to drive on Irish Roads with means of transport.
Salary Scale: €70,980- €81,874 per annum (Consolidated Salary Scales 1/8/25)
