Senior Social Worker Practitioner

Longford /Westmeath Services – Mullingar Based

Permanent Full Time Position – 70 hours per fortnight

At the Muiríosa Foundation, our mission is to ensure that people with intellectual disabilities have access to the supports they need to live self-directed, connected, inclusive, meaningful and fulfilling lives. We are seeking an experienced, motivated, inclusive and values-driven Senior Social Work Practitioner to join our Social Work Team in the Longford / Westmeath region.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dedicated Social Work Team, providing a high quality, rights-based social work service to adults with intellectual disabilities and their families. The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting adults with intellectual disabilities through person-led practice, safeguarding, advocacy, and supported decision making, ensuring that the voice, choices and aspirations of the individuals supported remain central to all aspects of their work.

Core responsibilities:

  • Provide social work assessment, intervention, advocacy and support planning in partnership with individuals supported and their families.
  • Support individuals to access services, resources and opportunities that enhance well-being, inclusion, independence and quality of life.
  • Contribute professional expertise in complex social work cases and safeguarding matters.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with individuals supported, families, colleagues, statutory and community agencies.
  • Support service development and quality improvement initiatives that enhance outcomes for individuals supported.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and professional records, reports and documentation in accordance with professional and organisational standards.

Essential Requirements:

  • National Qualification in Social Work (NQSW) or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Current registration with CORU’s Social Work Register.
  • Minimum of three years’ relevant post-qualification social work experience.
  • Experience in assessment, intervention, advocacy, multi-disciplinary working and case management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and report-writing skills.
  • Full current manual driving licence and access to own transport.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities.
  • Knowledge of the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015.
