Job Title: Senior Speech and Languge Therapist

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Speech and Language Therapists to join us in supporting children and their families, presenting with complex needs arising from a combination of intellectual, physical, and/or sensory disabilities.
The Speech and Language Therapist is a valuable member of the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) who will provide a quality evidence-based service in line with family centred practice and Progressing Disability Services (PDS) principles.
Working within a large supportive inter-disciplinary team across a variety of clinical settings the SLT will provide a combination of direct and targeted supports to children and their families. The SLT will be part of a large, vibrant, SLT Department across St. Michael’s House who are committed to delivering an evidence-based communication and FEDS service to maximise the quality of life of the children and families they work with.
St Michael’s House CDNTs have the following supports and structures available for Senior SLTs joining our CDNTs:
- Excellent clinical governance structures including regular CDNM line management and clinical supervision from SLT Head of Department.
- SLT Manager in position for discipline-specific support.
- Senior SLT peer supervision / CPD groups.
- Structured and funded CPD systems to support professional development goalsincluding access to courses such as Hanen, Lámh, and Early Bird.
- Opportunity to further develop skills within a dynamic and varied clinical caseload including early communication development, use of high-tech AAC systems, neuro-affirmative therapeutic approaches, Aversive Feeding and FEDS.
- Opportunities to implement FEDS clinical competencies within a large, well-established paediatric FEDS team including Paediatrician and Dietetics.
The successful candidate must have the following:
Essential Criteria
- Speech & Language Therapist: (i) the B.Sc. degree (Clinical Speech and Language Studies) from the University of Dublin/ NUIG or UCC OR (ii) the BA (Moderatorship)(Remedial Linguistics) from the University of Dublin OR (iii) the M.SC in Speech & Language Therapy (Professional Qualification) from the University of Limerick OR (iv) Licentiateship from the College of Speech Therapists OR (v) A validated Speech & Language qualification at least equivalent to (i), (ii), (iii) or (iv) above.
- Fully registered or registration in process with CORU.
- A minimum of 3 years post graduate clinical working experience with two years working with children with complex needs arising from a disability.
- An undergraduate or post-graduate qualification in dysphagia, and proven experience working in this area.
- Excellent communication and time management skills and the ability to work in a self-directed manner.
- Excellent ability to work with complex cases as part of a team.
- Committed to the delivery of quality, family-centred, community-based services.
- Evidence of a commitment to continuous professional development (CPD) in the relevant area.
- Evidence of leadership/mentoring/supervision.
- Full clean driving licence and use of a car.
Desirable Criteria
- Clinical experience of working with children with a variety of complex needs including Autism, Intellectual Disability and Physical Disability.
- Experience of working within an interdisciplinary team framework.
- Training relevant to children’s disability services e.g., Hanen, Lámh, AAC, Neurodiversity.
- Previous experience related to Preliminary Team Assessment/ Assessment of Need.
Salary scale : €63,912 - €75,254 LSI
- Should you have no prior public sector experience you will be placed on point 1 of the pay-scale above
Location: Coastal CDNT and Kilbarrack CDNT
