Senior Staff Officer
Senior Staff Officer salary scale €58,476 - €71,440(based on rates effective 01/02/2026)
Hours of Work: The appointee will be required to work 35 hours per week together with such additional hours as may be required from time to time for the proper discharge of their duties.
Annual Leave: 27 days annual leave per annum. Annual leave will be in accordance with arrangements authorised by the Minister for Furth
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
• To support the preparation of financial and other submissions as may be required from time to time by the University, Higher Education Authority, Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, external Auditors and other appropriate bodies/organisations.
• To support the monitoring and reporting of performance against project budgets highlighting key drivers, variances, risks and required actions, to University management and senior management.
• To ensure the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of all internal and external financial reporting data.
• To contribute to the development and maintenance of data integrity and internal reporting.
• Liaising with internal and external auditors and the implementation of Audit Recommendations.
• Develop effective working relationships with stakeholders across the University, providing financial advice, reporting and planning support.
• Support continuous improvement across reporting and finance processes, contributing to ongoing change initiatives within the Finance function.
• Respond to ad-hoc requests for financial analysis across the Organisation
Academic Qualifications
Have obtained at least Grade D3 in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalent or have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher or have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise
Experience
Minimum of two years' relevant experience in management accounting, financial planning and analysis, or has held a similar role within a comparable organisation
Specific Knowledge & Skills
Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting and/or long-term planning.
Ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insight.
Strong communication
I.T. Skills
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including experience in financial analysis and reporting
