Corlann provide a community based, person centred service focusing on the needs and abilities of children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The vision of Corlann is to support people with intellectual disabilities to achieve a full and valued life in their community, in line with best practice both nationally and internationally. Working in partnership with each person supported by Corlann, we aim to create opportunities for people supported by Corlann to have ordinary life experiences and to be closely connected to family and friends. Clarin Adult Services provide a range of community-based servicesincluding day, residential, respite, community outreach, family support and a range of multidisciplinary support services. People are supported in day centres, supported employment, social and micro enterprises, training and education and these can be in groups or individualised. People are supported in residential settings in their own homes in the community individually and in groups. We wish to create opportunities for people who use our services to have valued social roles in their communities and to form friendships.

The Service Coordinator, under the guidance of the Area Manager, and supported by local staff teams, is responsible for the coordination and continued development of these services.

Clarin Adult Services Clarinbridge, Co. Galway.

The Role:

  • Supports the role of the Area Manager and the Team Managers/Team Leaders within the Service. They will coordinate a number of Service Teams and along with the Team Managers/Team Leaders and Area Manager to support the overall strategic and operational management of the Service.
  • Actively lead and develop a number of highly motivated teams to ensure the development of person-centred services and promote a culture of consensus decision-making.
  • Actively lead all staff members in Residential and Day Services as required.
  • Will coordinate the future planning and ensure the implementation and ongoing review/development to ensure that individuals are supported in achieving their personal goals.
  • Will ensure that all services are delivered in an efficient and effective manner within the budget.
  • Develop and foster good relationships with the people we support, families, work colleagues and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Assist in formulating, implementing and evaluating service plans in co-operation with the multidisciplinary team and other team members under the direction of the Area Manager.
  • Will be a proactive member of the local services management team and the Clarin Team.

Qualifications/Experience:

Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition have:

(I) A relevant 3rd level qualification in Nursing and current Live Register Certificate from NMBI

OR

(II) Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU. OR

(III) Hold a schedule 3 qualification (see below Note 1*)

OR

(IV) Hold a comparable qualification recognised by Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU

OR

(V) Applicants who satisfy the conditions set out in Section 91 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005, (see below Note 2*) must submit proof of application for registration with the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU. The acceptable proof is correspondence from the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU confirming their application for registration as a Section 91 applicant was received by the 30th November 2025.

Note 1*

Schedule 3 Qualifications. This is a qualification listed in Schedule 3 of the Health and Social Care Professions Act 2005 for existing practitioners under section 91. Candidates who hold Schedule 3 qualifications can apply to register with CORU during the two year period after the register opens up to the 30th November 2025. Once the transitional period is over -30th November 2025, only qualifications approved by a Registration board will be considered.

Note 2*

Section 91 candidates are individuals who qualified before 30th Nov 2023 and have been engaged in the practice of the profession in the Republic of Ireland for a minimum of 2 years fulltime (or an aggregate of 2 years fulltime), between 30th November 2018 and 30th November 2023 are considered to be Section 91 applicants under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005

And

A minimum of 3 years post graduate relevant experience in management and leadership.

Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience gained in services for people with intellectual disabilities/on the Autism spectrum.

An appropriate qualification in Health and Social Care Management is a an essential requirement of the post.

A good understanding of the Person in Charge (PIC) role and HIQA requirements is essential.

Proven operational experience is essential.

Budgetary/financial, employee relations and team management experience.

Excellent leadership, managerial and team-working skills are required to co-ordinate and support the service teams and to ensure that a range of high quality services are provided.

Excellent communication and organisational skills together with up to date knowledge of current thinking and practices in person centred service delivery.

Excellent IT skills is crucial for this role.

Creativity and innovative approach to problem-solving,

A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads is an essential requirement.

Our Services are undergoing ongoing transformation to address the changing needs of the people we support. It is essential that the successful candidate holds an open, adaptable attitude to supporting and pursuing identified strategic changes and goals.

Working Hours:

Normal working week will be rostered on a 7 day basis, between the hours of 8am to 8pm. Contracted hours of work are liable to change over seven days to meet requirements of the post and flexibility with regard to your hours of duty will be required to fulfil the duties of the post.

· For a successful candidate with a nursing qualification a 75 hours fortnight applies as per HR Circular 018/2022.

· For a successful candidate holding a social care or other qualification the working hours will be 78 a Fortnight.

An on-call commitment is an essential requirement of this post. The Service Coordinator will be required to be on-call after working hours during the normal working week, at weekends and covering holidays as part of a rostered on-call system. In exceptional circumstances sleep-ins and night duties may be required.

Corlann model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures quality and person centred planning system requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each person supported.

Annual Leave:

Leave will be granted according to the agreed leave assigned to the grade of the successful candidate i.e. CNM3 or SCM3.

Remuneration:

Based on the salary scale attached to the qualification of the successful candidate e.g. CNM3 or SCM3.

Tenure:

This post is temporary, full-time and pensionable.

Probation:

A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer’s discretion.
