Job GradeIt is anticipated that in order to have the required skills and competencies, the Executive Officer post will be at the First Point level.
Reporting LineThis role reports to the Head of Skills and Professional Development.
Role OverviewThe successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Skills and Professional Development and the wider team to identify and address skills development needs across animation, digital games, VFX and immersive technologies. This will be achieved through the design and delivery of courses, events, funding schemes, research, and targeted initiatives, ensuring alignment with evolving industry demands. The role also involves managing key stakeholder relationships, coordinating funding applications, advising on skills-related policies, and leading workforce development projects to support sectoral growth. While in-depth technical expertise is not required at least some hands-on experience of current and emerging tools and technologies as well as an understanding of their potential impact on professional development and the sector are required.
Function OverviewThe Skills and Professional Development Department offers a wide range of courses, programmes and events, as well as funding supports and sectoral initiatives to support individuals at every stage in their career and to enable the long-term development of a flourishing, sustainable Screen sector. Our offering includes short courses, online modules, mentoring, work placements, certificates, and diplomas. We also provide also funding for Bursaries, Skills Development Events, and larger Learning Initiatives through our Stakeholders Programme. In addition, we support the National Talent Academy network across Ireland and many sectoral initiatives including projects on: AI, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity, (EDI), Engaging the Next Generation, Recognition of Prior Learning, Sustainability and Work-Life balance. As the Sector faces into a changing landscape of new technologies, business model platforms, and skills requirements, we are working to support the Sector to succeed in the short-term, as well as to find new ways ahead, creating new linkages, exploring new possibilities (including transmedia,) working towards long-term success and ensuring a sustainable, inclusive, human-centric future. We wish to engage a suitably qualified person for the role of Skills Development Coordinator: Animation/Digital Games/VFX & New Technologies in our Skills and Professional Development Function in Screen Ireland.
Position Profile and Key ResponsibilitiesSectoral & Technical Understanding
- Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the animation, digital games, VFX, immersive technologies sectors, including industry trends, evolving technologies, transmedia opportunities and workforce development needs, ensuring the Skills and Professional Development team remains up to date.
- Assess and engage with technology-driven initiatives and innovations, understanding their potential opportunities and risks for the Sector within the context of skills development.
Courses & Events Coordination
- Lead and support the design, execution, and evaluation of skills-focused events that drive sectoral growth.
- Oversee and support the development and delivery of online and in-person courses, events, and training modules, including flagship programmes such as the Graduate Traineeship, Creative Leaders, and Bootcamps.
- Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to promote courses, events, and professional development initiatives.
Funding Schemes & Applications
- Serve as a panel member and coordinator for the S481 skills process, ensuring skills-related requirements for animation and VFX applications are met.
- Represent sector-specific skills and training needs across current and future funding schemes, supporting tasks from query resolution and proposal evaluation to scheme administration and future design input.
- Assist in the development of funding proposals for new initiatives and applications.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain trust-based collaborative relationships with key industry stakeholders, including Animation Ireland, Ardán, Eirmersive, Creative and Cultural Skillnet, IMIRT, National Talent Academies, Third Level Institutions, and the VFX Association of Ireland.
- Represent the Screen Ireland at key sectoral events across Ireland, advocating for skills development and professional training initiatives.
Project & Programme Management
- Lead projects aimed at enhancing learning, development, and workforce capacity within the sector.
- Oversee the annual programme of courses, events, and initiatives, managing all aspects from design and budgeting to implementation, reporting, and evaluation.
- Provide support to Skills and Professional Development team members during peak work periods and leave absences.
- Assist senior team members with strategic projects and programmes as required.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as needed to support the broader goals of the Skills and Professional Development team.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with Finance, Marketing, Business and Legal, Production and Development, and Inward Development teams to align on cross-functional initiatives that support skills programmes.
- Support cross-functional teamwork by collaborating with colleagues across the Skills and Professional Development team and other departments, adapting to priority projects and providing assistance where needed to ensure the effective delivery of key initiatives.

Key Requirements Essential
- A commitment to both supporting the learning and development of others and the wider sector and to the values of Screen Ireland.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar coordinator, analyst, project manager, junior manager and/or administrator type role (or comparable experience gained as part of a wider role).
- Experience in the wider Creative sector and familiarity with at least one of the Animation / Digital Games / Immersive / VFX sectors and/or new technologies (especially AI) and new platforms.
- An enthusiasm for the use and potential of technology in the Screen and wider Creative Sector and experience of new and emerging tools and technologies and/or platforms and/or transmedia approaches.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, organising, and managing activities, events, training courses., projects, programmes, including coordinating logistics and participant management.
- Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, present ideas clearly, and advocate for professional development initiatives.
- Ability to assess challenges, make data-informed decisions, and contribute to the development of sectoral skills strategies.
- Willingness to take on new challenges, collaborate across teams, and adjust to evolving priorities.
- A strong learner – committed to their own personal development.
- Strong understanding of at least ONE of the animation, digital games, VFX, immersive technologies, sectors and transmedia approaches.
- Ability to assess the impact and potential of emerging technologies on workforce needs, with a comprehensive understanding of the possibilities, limitations, and risks of new technologies. Familiarity with current funding schemes and training initiatives across the sector.
- Familiarity with design, development and implementation of learning and development initiatives and/or funding schemes
- Irish language proficiency is desirable.
- Experience working with Screen and Creative sector industry partners, training providers, and/or funding agencies.
- Experience with formal project management approaches and/or Design Thinking methodologies.

Particulars of the Position- This position is at the Executive Officer level and is remunerated at €37,544.00 per annum. This role will be filled in line with Public Pay Policy at the first point of this Salary Scale unless the successful candidate is appointed from an existing public sector role.
- This position is a five-year fixed term full time contract.
- The successful candidate will be required to sign the Screen Ireland Code of Conduct.
- The role will have a 6-month probation period.
- Will report directly to the Head of Skills and Professional Development.
- The post will be based in Dublin.
- Annual leave (excluding bank holidays) of 23 days.
- Start Date as soon as possible.
