Social Care Worker, An Cuan
An Cuan is a regional support service for people with an intellectual disability that present with behaviours that challenge. This service assists individuals and their circle of support to enhance their quality of life through the implementation of an effective person-centred plan, positive behaviour support plan, and through the provision of interdisciplinary recommendations.
An Cuan works with individuals, families and professionals across Cork and Kerry in maintaining and enhancing quality of life outcome. This role will involve working across a number of locations and in the community.
Social Care Worker x 1 (Permanent, Kerry)
39 hour working week
Salary: The 12-point salary scale for the post as of 01/08/2025:
€40,351, €41,908, €43,826, €45,229, €46,647, €48,072, €49,520, €50,990, €52,473, €54,012, €55,599, €56,650 LSI
New appointees to any grade start at the minimum point of the scale. Incremental credit will be applied for recognised relevant service in Ireland (Department of Health Circular 2/2011). Incremental credit is normally granted on appointment, in respect of previous experience in the Civil Service, Local Authorities, Health Service and other Public Service Bodies and Statutory Agencies.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to strategies and supports required to expand opportunities for people with intellectual disability/autism and behaviours that challenge.
Applicants must possess the following:
- A minimum of three years’ experience of working with people who have an intellectual disability/autism and behaviours of concern.
- A relevant third level qualification in Social Care or equivalent as per CORU requirements.
- Have registration with Coru as a Social Care Worker.
- On application, candidates must have an up to date valid work permission and be eligible to work in Ireland.
- A working knowledge of the implementation of Person-Centred Planning, Positive Behaviour Support and positive risk.
- Applicants should be confident and self-motivated, have excellent interpersonal skills, planning and organisational skills with the ability to negotiate and liaise effectively with others (i.e. with families/other members of the multi-disciplinary team).
- The ability to problem solve and facilitate problem solving.
- Flexible in their approach to service delivery.
- Very good IT skills.
- Full clean driving licence.
