We are currently seeking highly-motivated Social Care Workersto join our team in Silverpine Respite House, Bray.

Contract Type: Permanent and Relief Posts.

Contract Hours: Full and Part Time Hours.

Salary Scale: €35,216 – €47,087 pro rata per annum.

This pay scale is subject to increases in 2024 in accordance with the recent WRC interim agreement (Ref CAM -100101-22) towards enhanced pay adjustments in Section 39 organisations.

Overview of Duties & Responsibilities:

To work as part of a dedicated and innovative team in a community based house providing respite and holiday breaks for children with physical disabilities, within a quality framework.

Key Working Relationships:

Enable Ireland delivers services using the Social Model of Disability and as such has a wide range of stakeholders with whom strong professional relationships need to be forged and fostered on an ongoing basis. These stakeholders will be clearly identified.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

· Adhere to Guidelines for Working with Children and Families as outlined in the Code of Practice.

· Facilitate Service Owners to be a part of their local community by assisting in their use of local resources and services, as well as taking part in activities outside the residence.

· Enable Service Owners to make decisions for themselves in all aspects of their lives.

· Through placement plans and with Service Owners’ assistance, devise and carry through appropriate goal oriented development programmes, aiming for as much independence as possible.

· Carry out duties in accordance with Enable Ireland Health & Safety procedures and ensuring Service Owners safety is paramount at all times.

· Be aware of health issues for each Service Owner and administer medication accordingly to Enable Irelands medication policy. Contact a doctor or emergency service where required.

· Enable the Service Owner to carry out therapy programmes, where appropriate, in the domestic setting.

· Work with the Service Owner to ensure that they maintain a high standard of personal and dental hygiene. Assist Service Owners to maintain skills in these areas.

· Liaise with other staff involved with Service Owners, e.g. therapy staff, teachers, etc.

· Be familiar with the correct usage of Service Owners’ equipment.

· Act as a team member, sharing information and ideas with co-workers. This includes participating in house staff meetings as well as keeping a daily record of events in the house.

· Maintain high standards in care practice at all times in accordance with policy document.

· Take particular responsibility for Service Owners through the key-worker system.

· Assist Service Owners with family contact - liaise with families where required.

· Attend IFSP’s, case conferences and other appropriate meetings.

· Participate in external courses and in-service training as requested or required.

· Participate in supervision and personal development procedures.

· Establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and Service Owners.

· Ensure that appropriate well-balanced meals are provided. Meal planning, shopping and cooking should include Service Owners.

· Ensure the maintenance of a clean, safe and comfortable environment within the house. Domestic duties (washing, ironing, cleaning) should involve Service Owners where appropriate.

· Maintain a child friendly and homelike environment.

· Write and keep records regarding on-going development of Service Owners, at all times respecting the need for confidentiality.

· Take full responsibility for house when necessary.

· Keep abreast of developments in best practice and participate in appropriate staff training/development programmes.

· Drive minibus and car as required, complying with Enable Ireland policy and procedures regarding use of minibus.

· Carry out any duties required as a result of HIQA standards si 365-367.

· Any other appropriate duties.

The successful candidate will have:

Essential Criteria:

Candidates must:

Possess the National Diploma in Childcare awarded by HETAC/DIT.

OR

Possess the National Diploma in Applied Social Care Studies awarded by HETAC/DIT.

OR

Possess the Diploma in Social Care awarded by HET AC/DIT.

OR

Possess the Diploma in Applied Social Studies/Social Care from DIT.

OR

Possess a BA (Ord) in Social Care Practice (Level 7 on the NQAI framework).

OR

Possess Open Training College National Diploma in Applied Social Studies (Disability).

OR

Possess an equivalent qualification.

AND

Candidates must have a suitable standard of professional attainments.

AND

Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the office).

AND

Possess a full, clean driving licence.

AND

Demonstrate experience working in the caring profession.

Additional Requirements in Relation to CORU:

Those applying between now and November 2025 with a Schedule 3 qualification must have worked as a Social Care Worker for 2 of the last 5 years and be applying for registration with CORU.

OR

Those applying with an approved Social Care Worker Qualification must be either registered with CORU or in the process of registering.

Desirable Criteria:

· Experience of working with adults and families with physical/sensory/intellectual disabilities.

· Minimum of 1 year post qualification experience relevant to the role.
