St. Michael's House is a community-based organisation committed to providing a quality person centred service and high standard of living to people with an intellectual disability in the greater Dublin area. St. Michael’s House is committed to providing individualised supports to people so that they can enjoy experiences, opportunities and lifestyles similar to their peers.

A vacancy now exists for a Social Care Worker - Full Time permanent contract (35 hour week). Starbrook is a day services providing supports and activities to adults with complex needs arising from a combination of intellectual, autism, physical and/or sensory disabilities. Starbrook is Located in Leopardstown. The Centre is a person centred service guided and supported by the standards of New Directions and through individual Cosan programmes and QQI courses. The service aims to meet the needs of each individual service user promoting independence and quality of life. The day service team is comprised of different skill mix reflecting the needs of the persons using the service. The team includes Social care workers and Direct Support workers, managed by a Social Care Leader and is supported by the MDT.

Essential Criteria for Applicants

· Have a minimum of 2 years experience working in the area of Intellectual Disability
· Experience of supporting individuals to engage in social activities in the community
· Experience working with Families, Clinicians and building links in the community
· Experience in providing individuals with positive behavior support

Must be eligible to work in Ireland.

Desirable Criteria for Applicants

· Must have a full, clean driver license and willing to drive as part of duties.

Applicants must:

  • Level 7 Award in Social Care delivered by a Technological University (formerly Institutes of Technology and (DIT) Or National University of Ireland OR equivalent.
  • Level 7 award for Social Care Worker will be only accepted if they are approved by Coru for registration (register opens 30th November 2023).

Salary Scale:

Successful candidates will be paid in line with the March 2025 HSE revised consolidated Social Care Worker pay scale (point 1; €40,351– point 12; €56,650 per annum based on working a 39 hour week). Should you have no prior public sector experience you will be placed on point 1 of the pay-scale above.
