Speech And Language Therapist

Applications are invited for the following position: Speech and Language Therapist, Staff Grade. Full –Time Permanent Position.

Location: Bawnmore, Limerick City.

Candidates for appointment must:

1.Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience:

(i) Be registered with CORU, the regulator for health and social care professional, and eligible for membership of the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (I.A.S.L.T.).

(ii) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Speech & Language Therapist Register maintained by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.

Essential to the Post:

· A dysphagia qualification or equivalent as outlined in “Standards of Practice for Speech & Language Therapists on the Management of Feeding, Eating, Drinking and Swallowing Disorders (Dysphagia)” Irish Association of Speech & Language Therapists (IASLT) 2012 is essential for this post.

· Fluency in verbal and written English an essential requirement of this post.

Desirable to the Post:

· Have experience (including student placements) working with people with an intellectual disability

· Have experience (including student placements) working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support families and staff

· Have experience with AAC including certification in e.g. Lámh.

· Knowledge of or experience e.g. Hanen programmes, Intensive Interaction.

· Demonstrate clinical knowledge and understanding of SLT evidence based practices working with adults with intellectual disability, physical disabilities and autism.

Other Requirements Specific to the Post

A full clean driving licence and use of your own car is an essential requirement.

2.Annual registration

(i) On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Speech & Language Therapists Register maintained by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.

AND

(ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU with employer.

3.Health

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

4.Character

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

Panels may be formed as a result of the interview process. Candidates who are placed on a panel will be considered for subsequent vacancies, for a period of up to one year, for this grade. These vacancies could be for permanent, part time, relief hours, fixed term or temporary positions.
