St. Michael’s House is a community based voluntary organisation founded in 1955 which provides facilities and services to over 1,700 people with intellectual disabilities and their families in the greater Dublin area. Within Adult Services we provide services in three regions: North Region (Ballymun); North-East Region (Coolock & Baldoyle); Southern Region (Goatstown).

We are currently looking to recruit for the following post:

  • 1 x Speech and Language Therapy Assistant (Adult Services) (Two years Fixed Term Contract, Full Time)

Applications are invited for a Two years Fixed Term and full time (35 hrs) Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join the Adult Services Speech and Language Therapy Department in St. Michael’s House. The successful candidate will join the existing team of Speech and Language Therapists in supporting the delivery of quality Speech and Language Therapy Services to adults with intellectual disabilities.

St. Michael’s House seeks to employ proactive and progressive individuals who identify with the ethos of providing a continuum of innovative services that support people with an intellectual disability to live full lives in the community. The successful candidate will support thedelivery of Speech and Language Therapy services to adults with intellectual disabilities in close co-operation with multi-disciplinary clinical and frontline colleagues. Supervision will be provided by a Senior Speech and Language Therapist; line management is by the SLT Manager in Charge iii.

St. Michael’s House provide services in three regions: North Region (Ballymun); North-East Region (Coolock & Baldoyle); Southern Region (Goatstown). The SLTA post will predominantly support our Ballymun and Coolock regions; some flexibility across the St. Michael’s House regions may be required in response to service user needs.

Essential Criteria:

  • FETAC level 5 qualification in Speech and Language Therapy Assistant Course and/or equivalent qualification in the field of Health-Care
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team work skills
  • Excellent organisational/time management skills
  • Administrative and IT skills

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of working with people with an intellectual disability
  • Have experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support families and staff
  • Full clean driver’s licence and use of a car
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Powerpoint and Excel
  • Commitment to completing further training as relevant to the role
