Cork University Hospital is a model 4 tertiary referral centre and University teaching hospital. It is a member of the South/South West Hospital Group. Cork University Hospital Group (CUHG) includes Mallow General Hospital and Bantry General Hospital.

CUH is unique in that there are 40 different medical and surgical specialties on the campus. The Stroke service at CUH is the busiest in the country. CUH is seeking to become a European Stroke Organisation (ESO) accredited Comprehensive Stroke Centre serving a supra-regional population of 1.5 million currently encompassing Munster.

The Speech & Language Therapy Department provides care across Cork University Hospital, Cork University Maternity Hospital & Mallow General Hospital.

The SLT Department is a dynamic work environment with service delivery provided across a wide range of adult & paediatric specialities including Geriatric Medicine, Radiation/Oncology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Respiratory Medicine, Cardiology, Critical Care, Paediatrics and Neonatology. It is also a clinical practice site for undergraduates from UCC.

The CUHG SLT stroke service is resourced to deliver clinical care across the continuum from acute to Early Supported Discharge.
