We’re excited to announce a part-time permanent vacancy for a Sports & Leisure Attendant to join our dedicated team at St. Michael’s House in Dublin. Our Sport & Leisure Services Department offers a variety of health and wellbeing opportunities, adopting a rights-based approach to ensure people of all abilities and ages have access to the resources and support they need to lead healthy, active lives.

What We Do:

· Leisure Centre: A fully accessible 19m hydrotherapy swimming pool, social areas, small gym and fitness studio, designed to accommodate diverse needs.

· Online Activity Hub: A digital service offering new opportunities for people with disabilities to engage with health, advocacy, and educational content, helping to improve digital and social inclusion.

· Community-Based Sports Programming:Working with partners in the community to provide inclusive sports and physical activities.

· Health Promotion and Education:Offering activities and resources that promote physical and mental well-being.

About the Role:

As a Sports & Leisure Attendant, you will be a vital member of our team. Your primary role will involve delivering and facilitating swimming and physical activity programmes within the leisure centre, helping individuals achieve their personal goals and maximize their potential. You will also work across the other strands within the Sport & Leisure Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to individuals, ensuring they can participate fully and safely in swimming and other physical activity programmes.
  • Facilitate enjoyable and engaging activities that promote physical, social, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Conduct regular health and safety checks across the facility.
  • Support individuals in achieving their own chosen health and fitness goals.
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure a collaborative, person-centred approach in all activities.
  • Perform plant room operations (full training provided) to help maintain a safe and functional pool environment.
  • Carry out general cleaning and maintenance duties to ensure high standards of hygiene and safety.
  • Engage in regular lifeguard training to maintain best practices and emergency readiness.

About You:

  • You have a genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities in achieving their health and fitness goals.
  • You are enthusiastic, empathetic, and have a positive approach to working with individuals of all abilities.
  • You are a team player with excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Experience in leisure, sports, or healthcare is a plus, but most importantly, you bring a caring attitude and a commitment to delivering exceptional support.

Essential Criteria

  • A current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification/Irish Water Safety Pool Lifeguard Qualification
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Have a professional and positive approach on all aspects of the role

Desired:

  • Have a recognised Qualification in Sport, Leisure & Recreation/ Community Sports Development/ Coaching or Teaching/Health Promotion
  • Previous experience working with people with disabilities
  • Previous experience working in the sport, leisure, fitness or recreation sector
  • Pool Plant Room qualification
  • Fitness Qualification or Sports Coaching Certificates
  • Aqua Aerobics Certificate
  • Older Adult Physical Activity Programming
  • Disability Awareness Training
  • Safeguarding/Child protection qualification
  • Swimming Teaching Qualification
  • Have a strong commitment to the empowerment of the people with disabilities

Working Hours:

  • The position requires flexibility to work shifts over a 7-day roster.
  • All staff members are required to attend regular staff training sessions.
