Staff Nurse, Acute Medicine Short Stay Unit

We are seeking experienced and dynamic staff nurses to join our Acute Medicine Short Stay Unit (AMSSU), which forms part of the Acute floor. The National Acute Medicine Programme was established in 2010 to standardise and improve the management of acutely ill medical patients in the Irish Healthcare system. Acute medicine is concerned with the immediate and early specialist management of adult patients suffering from a wide range of medical conditions who present to, or are from within, an acute hospital and require urgent or emergency care. Acute medical units (AMUs), acute medical assessment units (AMAUs), and acute medical short stay units (AMSSUs) have been developed to support the delivery of this care. In collaboration with key stakeholders, the post holder will facilitate the implementation of the National Clinical Care Programmes with particular emphasis on the Acute Medicine Programme. Ensuring the provision of the highest standards of care is consistent with the hospital ethos and strategic plan. This position is ideal for nurses looking to further develop clinical leadership, decision-making, and critical care skills. Further education and up-skilling are available, including access to accredited courses to enhance knowledge and clinical practice, in-house education by our SDF. The staff nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care to the highest professional and ethical standards within the model of nursing care practiced in the hospital. They will ensure that care is delivered in accordance with the vision, mission, philosophy, core values, evidence-based practice, and standards of the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.
