Job description: Ailesbury Respite
Ailesbury is a community respite house in Dundrum, currently providing support to over 60 adults with intellectual disabilities. Staff provide a variety of nursing, social and emotional support needs. Individuals are supported during their breaks to engage in community based activities and to achieve a meaningful respite break.
The role of the Staff Nurse involves delivering holistic, person-centred nursing care and support to individuals with intellectual, physical, &/or sensory disabilities. The goal is to promote independence and enhance quality of life across all aspects of daily living during their stay in respite.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-standard nursing care in line with NMBI Code of Conduct, relevant legislation and within organisational policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
- To work as part of an interdisciplinary team to support individuals with their health, wellbeing, and social care.
- To improve experience and outcomes for individuals with an intellectual disability.
- Advocate for the rights, will and preferences of individuals, promoting dignity and inclusion.
Essential Requirements:
- Hold a RNID qualification, and be presently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). Other nursing disciplines can apply if they have at least 1 year experience in working with people with an intellectual disability
- Newly Qualified RNID’s are encouraged to apply
- Experience in supporting people with intellectual disabilities and those with positive behaviour supports
- Have a working knowledge of Safe Guarding Policy
- Knowledge of HIQA regulations for residential services
- Strong commitment to person-centred human rights-based support and team-based working
- A valid driver’s licence is preferred due to travel requirements but not essential

Salary scale : €37,288 - €55,723 LSI
- Should you have no prior public sector experience you will be placed on point 1 of the pay-scale above
