Staff Officer
Longford and Westmeath Education and Training Board (LWETB)
LWETB invites applications for the above permanent role. The initial assignment will focus on Further Education and Training (FET) Projects. However, LWETB reserves the right to assign the successful candidate to another operational area.
A panel for the above Grade V FET Learner & Staff Supports role only may be formed and remain in place until 31 August 2026.
Purpose of the RoleWork as part of the FET team to develop, coordinate, and deliver local and national initiatives across the Further Education and Training service, with a focus on:
- Learner and staff supports
- Inclusion
- Quality assurance
- Digital systems
- Programme development
The successful candidate will:
- Support planning, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of FET supports and services
- Work across multiple departments and initiatives
- Demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and strong attention to detail
The role also supports the development of consistent systems, processes, and supports for learners and staff, contributing to strategic and operational projects as assigned.
Desirable Qualifications- A qualification at Level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications (or equivalent), and/or significant relevant work experience
- Third-level qualification(s) in relevant disciplines are a strong advantage
- Contribute to development and coordination of centralised supports
- Support initiatives relating to:
- Assist in implementing policies and procedures
- Support consistent application of universal design principles
- Liaise with centres to identify emerging needs
- Undertake project work with clear deliverables and timelines
- Support development, implementation, and monitoring of initiatives
- Assist in planning, tracking, and reporting progress
- Maintain accurate records and documentation

- Support QA processes across FET provision
- Assist with audits, monitoring, and evaluation
- Support implementation of QA policies
- Contribute to standardised systems and documentation
- Support data management and analysis

- Support digital platforms for learner and staff information
- Assist development of digital resources
- Support TEL initiatives across centres
- Develop guidance materials and user supports
- Support staff engagement with digital tools
- Support coordination of professional learning opportunities
- Assist in organising training sessions, workshops, and events
- Support development of teaching and learning resources
- Track participation and outcomes
- Support budget monitoring and tracking
- Assist with financial administration
- Work with finance teams on budget allocation
- Maintain records in line with audit requirements

Base: LWETB College of Further Education and Training, Marlinstown Campus, Marlinstown Business Park, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath
Salary: €52,240 (starting point, non-negotiable)
- Incremental scale applies (C/L 0007/2026)
- Previous public sector experience may be considered
Hours: 35 hours per week
Candidate RequirementsCandidates must:
- Have the required skills and competencies
- Have:
- Be at least 17 years old
- Open to EEA citizens or non-EEA nationals with a valid work permit
- Must inform LWETB if a work permit is required
- May require health assessment
- Garda vetting may be required
- References will be checked
- 25 days per annum (pro-rata)
- Leave subject to approval
- Office closures included in leave allocation
