Purpose of the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the growing multidisciplinary team as Staff Grade Psychologist/Psychotherapist to participate in the delivery of assessments and provision of therapeutic interventions to children and their families attending the service. The post holder will be an integral member of the MDT and as part of their role will be required to attend case conferences, MDT meetings and other professional meetings. The Psychologist/Psychotherapist will also participate in service development, monitoring and evaluation and the provision of training and consultations.

Individual and Clinical supervision will be provided by the Principal Psychologist/Psychotherapist or delegated to a Senior Psychologist/Psychotherapist. Group case management and reflective process supervision will also be provided.

Essential Criteria for Psychologist:

  • Hold a recognised University degree or diploma obtained with first or second class honours in which psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject or hold a recognised qualification equivalent to above

And

  • Hold a relevant post-graduate professional qualification in Psychology recognised by the Psychological Society of Ireland.

Or

  • Hold a postgraduate professional psychology qualification validated by the Department of Health and Children. Applicants should refer to the Dept. of Health & Children regulations on the Employment of Psychologists in the Health Services, as well as, the PSI Guidelines on Post Graduate Training & Qualifications
  • Be eligible for Staff Grade having completed post graduate professional training.
  • Experience of psychological assessment and intervention with children, adolescents and their families.

Essential Criteria for Psychotherapist:

  • On the latest date for receiving completed applications for the post candidates must hold a recognised post graduate qualification in Psychotherapy and accreditation with a relevant professional psychotherapy body.
  • Experience of therapeutic assessment and intervention with children and families. This should include experience of working directly with children, including experience of working clinically with children and adolescents as well as their carers and families. This can include experience gained with these groups as part of Psychotherapy training.
