Salary Scale

Starting point is €56,755. As per DES guidelines, new appointees who are entering this grade for the first time will start at the minimum point of the scale; however, incremental credit may apply if, immediately prior to appointment, the appointee is already a serving Civil or Public Servant. Rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy.

Location

Appointment is to Louth and Meath Education and Training Board Scheme. The successful applicant will be assigned initially to the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre of Excellence (AMTCE), Dundalk, Co. Louth.

Reporting/Accountability Relationship

The Grade VI – Stock Control and Stores Person reports to the AMTCE Training Manager of the AMTCE in the first instance as direct line manager, reporting also, as appropriate, to the Director of the AMTCE and Chief Executive of LMETB.

Post Summary

The Grade VI – Stock Control and Stores Person role involves the organisation, supervision, and control of stock management and procurement activities within the ETB. Key duties include receiving, storing, securing, and issuing goods, coordinating general maintenance services, and maintaining accurate stock records to support AMTCE operations. The Grade VI – Stock Control and Stores Person will also play an active role in maintaining a safe working environment.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIACitizenship Requirement

Candidates should note that eligibility to compete for posts is open to citizens of the European Economic Area (EEA) or to non-EEA nationals with a valid work permit. The EEA consists of the Member States of the European Union along with Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Swiss citizens under EU agreements may also apply.

Health and Character

Those under consideration for a position may at the discretion of the employer be required to complete a health and character declaration and a Garda Vetting Form. References will be sought.

Essential Requirements
  • Leaving Certificate or equivalent.

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant work experience.

  • Extensive experience in using ICT systems and office applications, combined with a solid understanding of administrative procedures.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience leading or coordinating projects, with responsibility for planning and delivery.

  • Experience working as part of cross-functional teams, demonstrated through previous roles.

  • Experience performing manual handling tasks in a work environment, with current manual handling certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Access to own transport.

Main Duties
  • Process purchase requests in accordance with purchasing procedure for goods and materials to maintain minimum just-in-time stock levels.

  • Maintain copies of all such orders and requests for purchase.

  • Obtain necessary quotations for requests for purchase which are approved and submitted to stores.

  • Using computerised system, raise the necessary purchase order for goods.

  • Have orders approved by Manager and posted to supplier with copy to Central Administration Unit.

  • Maintain appropriate files for inward receipt of goods, delivery notes, copies of Orders, and requests for Purchase, credit Notes and invoices as required.

  • Assist as required in identifying costs of materials used in specific training courses.

  • Carry out any other duties as may be required from time to time.

  • Management and storage of assets.

  • Assist in devising and ensure the implementation of procedures to control the receipt, checking, inspection, storage, security and issue of all stores items.

  • Receive and check goods delivered to stores, sign delivery docket and complete GINs on computer system.

  • Distribute goods to originator of request for purchase and have GIN signed by originator.

  • Control collection and storage of scrap material, arrange for its sale and properly account for the proceeds thereof.

  • Bring to the immediate notice of the Manager any losses or discrepancies in the stores or any excessive or unauthorised use of consumable material.

  • Identify obsolete, superfluous and damaged goods, materials, equipment, and in line with procedures, arrange for their disposal.

  • Maintain the storeroom and the allocation of space for stock. Ensure the storeroom meets HS regulations.

  • Participate in the annual stocktake of Capital, Durable and Consumable Stocks as required and directed by the Manager.

  • Recommend and implement procedures to control the issue of tools and equipment to Instructors and to Trainees and Apprentices.

  • Control the issue of Protective Clothing and arrange for laundering and repairs as required.

  • Ensure that the "Tools in Use" system is operated and that the issue and receipt of items loan is recorded (in Centre only).

  • Ensure that in the event of the stores being closed for any period, due notice is given to all so that prior arrangements for supplies may be made.

  • Supervision of staff as required.

  • To undertake any tasks/assignments delegated from time to time by the Senior LMETB Management.

  • All the above duties and responsibilities to be carried out in consultation and with the approval of the manager, in a flexible manner and a spirit of teamwork with the other staff in the centre.
