Stock & Online Supervisor
The Commercial Department’s role is to generate income from a wide range of commercial opportunities, developing a more consistent funding model to support the Gallery’s programmes.
Operating within the Gallery’s Commercial Department, the long-established Gallery Shop sells gifts, merchandise and publications inspired by the Gallery’s collection. The Gallery Shop also boasts a rich and varied children’s section, exclusive designer collaborations and a range of handmade crafts by Irish designers.
The Gallery Shop wishes to recruit a Stock & Online Supervisor on a permanent basis. The purpose of this role is to assist in all aspects of the operation of the Gallery Shop and provide a quality service to the customers. Reporting to the Retail Manager, the Stock and Online Supervisor will:
- Process all incoming product deliveries accurately and in a timely manner using the shop's stock system (Shopify)
- Maintain the Gallery Shop's storage facilities (onsite and off-site) in an orderly and systematic fashion.
- Oversee and coordinate the movement of stock between storage facilities and the shop floor.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels on the Gallery’s online shop to support continuous sales operations.
- Work with the Shop Manager to develop the Gallery’s presence on
- shop.nationalgallery.ie and digital communication channels.
- Coordinate with the Shop Manager to ensure relevant and strategically selected stock is uploaded to the online store, aligning with key trading periods such as Exhibitions and Seasonal events.
- Compile monthly and quarterly reports analysing online performance, key trends and customer behaviour insights to help inform the Gallery’s Audience Strategy
- Develop and implement an annual Digital Plan to drive online growth and engagement
- Prepare and dispatch online, wholesale and client specific orders to customers nationally and internationally to the highest standard.
- Prepare for and oversee the Gallery Shop's annual stocktake.
- Work collaboratively with the Gallery's Finance department to ensure accurate stock levels and invoice processing and to address annual audit queries.
- Ensure sufficient quantities of stationery, packaging, and handling materials are maintained by the Gallery Shop.
- Ensure the highest standards of health, safety and cleanliness for the Gallery Shop storage and delivery areas.
- Coordinate with the Gallery's Green Team and all suppliers to the Gallery Shop to advance the Gallery's Climate Action targets.
The successful candidate will have:
- 3 years of retail and stock management experience, preferably in a retail environment, and/or experience in a goods inward/outward setting.
- Experience managing projects and developing an online retail presence.
- Excellent IT skills, with experience using MS Office and Shopify.
- Excellent attention to detail, with a methodical and organised approach to record-keeping.
- A full clean driving license.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with a proven ability to engage with customers, build strong stakeholder relationships, and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- A flexible and energetic self-starter with the ability to proactively plan and execute initiatives, working independently or as part of a team.
- Sound problem solving, judgment, and decision-making skills.
- The ability to analyse data, generate innovative ideas, and identify new e-commerce trends and opportunities for the Gallery.
- Strong numeric skills and a good knowledge of commercial activities.
- An interest in working in a museum or gallery and a willingness to create a positive retail experience in the Gallery Shop.

Eligible candidates must be:
1. A citizen of the European Economic Area (EEA). The EEA consists of the Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway; or
2. A citizen of the United Kingdom (UK); or
3. A citizen of Switzerland, pursuant to the agreement between the EU and Switzerland on the free movement of persons; or
4. A non-EEA citizen who has a valid work permit.
To qualify candidates must be eligible by the date of any job offer.

Salary: €38,000 gross per annum
Annual Leave: The successful candidate will be entitled to 22 days of annual leave pro rata

Working hours: 36.25 hours per week (net of breaks), with a work schedule of 5 days out of 7
