Overview

The Storeroom & Packaging Operative is responsible for the effective management and operation of the Packaging Dry Goods Area, which holds all packaging materials required for daily production. This role ensures that all packaging resources are available, accurately tracked, and maintained in line with production demands, customer requirements, and company standards. The Operative will work closely with Production, Technical, Health & Safety, Purchasing, and Supply Chain teams to support a smooth and audit-ready operation.

Packaging Area Management

  • Oversee the full Packaging Dry Goods Area, ensuring the workspace is organised, clean, and audit-compliant at all times.

Take ownership of all packaging storage locations, maintaining clear labelling, segregation, and stock accuracy.

Produce boxes and assemble packaging components throughout the day as required for production demands

Production Support & Planning

  • Review and monitor daily production plans to ensure packaging materials are available for all scheduled lines.

Maintain a strong understanding of all customer promotions—current, upcoming, and potential changes—and adjust packaging readiness accordingly.

Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all packaging SKUs, specifications, and their associated BOM.

Stock Management & Ordering

  • Conduct daily stock checks and place replenishment orders with the external picking team to ensure continuous supply.

Update all packaging stock movements on the internal system, including receipts, usage, transfers, and issues to production by item.

Complete weekly and monthly stock counts, investigating and resolving discrepancies.

Manage and maintain BOM

Audit & Compliance

  • Ensure the Packaging Dry Goods Area remains fully audit-ready at all times.

Maintain accurate documentation, traceability records, and system entries in line with customer and certification body standards.

Note - Dual reporting line to the Boning Hall Manager and the Purchasing Manager, ensuring alignment between production needs and procurement requirements.

Requirements

Skills 

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy with stock and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and take full ownership of an operational area.
  • Effective communication with cross-functional teams.
  • Good understanding of production planning 
  • Computer literacy with stock or ERP systems (training can be provided).
