Essential Qualifications and Skills
Candidates must:
• have the requisite knowledge, skills and competencies to carry out the role to a high standard;
• be capable and competent of fulfilling the role to a high standard;
• have obtained at least Grade O6 (formerly D3) in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalent or have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher or have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
• Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject area
• Excellent knowledge of Higher Education sector, strategy and processes
• IT skills including managing data systems
• Experience in leading out on the provision of new, innovative, and effective processes
• Experience engaging diverse student populations
• Experience working with digital learning tools or platforms
• Evidence of experience and knowledge of student leadership and empowerment initiatives in higher education
• Project coordination experience in student engagement/teaching & learning enhancement
• Excellent teamwork, leadership skills, interpersonal and communication skills, and experience of writing reports
• Experience in the use of and monitoring of evidence-based practice
Overview of the Role
The Student Success & Partnership Coordinator will play a central leadership role in advancing student engagement, partnership, and success across the university. The post holder will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating initiatives that support student learning, development, partnership, belonging, retention and engagement, and alignment with the university's strategic plan, the student success plan and the LTA strategy.
Under the remit of the Teaching and Learning Centre and working closely with academic and professional services colleagues, the role will promote an inclusive, empowering environment where students are active partners in their educational journey.
This role will drive strategic initiatives focused on enhancing the student voice, strengthening student participation in governance and institutional development, supporting co-curricular learning, and embedding inclusive practices in teaching, learning, and assessment. It will also build on national and international frameworks—including Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI), Academic Integrity, Sustainability, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and digital transformation—to ensure all students have the opportunity to thrive, including through the provision of appropriate and reasonable accommodations
Duties
A. Coordination & Implementation
• Coordinate and monitor implementation of student success and engagement initiatives across the university
• Lead internal promotion and communications related to student success programmes and initiatives
• Manage the administration of student partnership activities, including record-keeping, supplier engagement, and event logistics
• Manage the administration associated with ATU-wide implementation student success initiatives, including maintaining engagement data records and analysis
• Oversee the coordination of student induction with a focus on the first-year experience
• Manage budgets related to student engagement initiatives, including funding for programmes, events, and ambassador hours
B. Collaboration & Engagement
• Collaborate with Students’ Union, Student Services, faculties, and the Teaching & Learning Centre team to co-design and deliver student partnership and empowerment activities
• Work with marketing teams on communications strategies that promote student partnership initiatives
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with best practices in student success, engagement and empowerment
• Engage proactively with the Students’ Union, clubs, and societies to enhance student success, engagement, and the overall student experience
• Play an active role in the governance and strategic management of externally funded projects and partnerships, including those supported by organisations such as the Sunflower Foundation
C. Student Partnership & Development
• Oversee the development and roll out of a student Partnership Agreement between Student Unions and the university
• Coordinate student-staff partnership programmes and initiatives focused on innovation in learning and teaching
• Coordinate the peer learning leadership program (PASS) supporting first-year student retention and success
• Lead development and implementation of digital literacy and student competency frameworks
• Manage recruitment, induction, and recognition of student leaders and champions
• Organise workshops and events that build student capacity and confidence as co-creators of learning
• Provide line management for personnel supporting student success and engagement initiatives, including graduate interns, student ambassadors/champions/student PASS leaders, and similar roles
D. Strategic Contributions
• Participate in institutional and national networks to represent and advance student success, retention and engagement priorities
• Collaborate with academic and professional colleagues to embed student partnership within curriculum and institutional policy
• Contribute to the development of inclusive, digitally-enabled and future-focused student success strategies
Salary
Salary Scale: €59,417 – €77,243
Candidates external to the sector may be appointed up to the 3rd Point (€62,567) of the Salary Scale in accordance with University Policy
