Job Purpose

Dawn Farms is currently seeking for Supplier Auditor to join our Technical Department to be based in our HQ Offices in Naas, Co. Kildare. The role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Food Technologist. You will need a strong background in Technical Management, with experience and exposure across a variety of food industries with a preference for meat industry experience. You will be part of a core Audit team focusing on the supplier base for the business

Capable of working on your own initiative, you’ll audit a comprehensive range vendor sites. The ideal candidaite will be a food committed professional, with a good level of factory technical management and quality systems experience, who can work proactively with suppliers to add value, whilst optimizing quality and continuous improvement.

Working Hours: Mon. - Fri. 8am – 5pm (will vary due to travel)

Salary Range: DOE

Role Responsibilities & Duties

  • Audit suppliers against the company’s requirements, verifying their facilities, procedures and systems, according to the agreed audit schedule.
  • Audit suppliers to verify compliance with the requirements of the company, and thus the overall food safety and quality of the supply chain.
  • Audit all supply commodities e.g. meat, dry ingredients, packaging, services and consumables.
  • Prepare audit reports, issue non-conformances to suppliers, and track timely corrective action. Report the results back to the Technical and Purchasing teams, and work with them to support the suppliers in correcting deficiencies in practice and performance.
  • Responsibility to Approve, De-List or otherwise grade a supplier in line with company standards, and in consultation with the Technical Team.
  • Support the Technical and Purchasing Teams in developing the vendor management programme to assure quality and safety in the supply base, and to maintain a risk-based supplier audit programme.
  • As a supplier-facing company representative, maintain a professional conduct and outlook in all dealings with suppliers and customers.
  • In conjunction with the technical team, keep abreast of system changes and developments e.g. new products, customer policies, procedures, legislation, guidelines, regulations etc. and incorporate change into the audit programme and standard as agreed with the Technical Team.
  • Ensure all documents required are in place for presentation to the Technical Manager for review.
  • Develop and maintain a positive, proactive relationship with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements for products developed or manufactured by suppliers.
  • Planning and conducting food audits on vendors in regards to HACCP, BRC, and Customer Requirements.
  • Report writing and maintaining and updating relevant customer information.

Skills & Experience

  • Ability to travel both within Europe and some travel outside Europe. The scope of the travel requirements is global and the employee will travel up to 70% of their time in the role.
  • Degree level in a Food Science or appropriate discipline, ideally backed by Lead Auditor training.
  • HACCP experience/certificate.
  • Food Safety & Quality mindset with commitment to continuous improvement and delivering supplier auditing standards.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods and excellent initiative.
  • Good team player.
  • A ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Flexible attitude in an aim to meet all business demands.
  • Demonstrated strong, effective people management and project management skills.
  • Strong influencing and communication skills.
  • Experience of quality tools and techniques eg. Six Sigma and Lean tools.
  • Proven project management capabilities.
