The Opportunity
The Data Product Owner is responsible for defining and managing the Data Product vision, strategy, and end-to-end delivery, collaborating with relevant IT and Business stakeholders to ensure alignment to business strategic objectives. They are responsible for translating strategic and operational business objectives into technical Data Product solutions, having in-depth knowledge of business processes that underpin the Technology Value Stream. They lead the Data Product team to design and develop new Data Products, enabling the Business to successfully embed these Products into business processes. They remain abreast of emerging technologies relevant to their Technology Value Stream, driving innovation and optimisation in solution creation.
Job Responsibilities
- Defines the Supply Chain & Manufacturing Data Product vision and strategy, aligned with wider Business goals and priorities.
- Collaborate with key Business stakeholders across the organization to identify key challenges and opportunities where data can provide solutions and then translating these business needs into technical requirements, understanding which data capabilities are required for the requested Data Product creation (e.g., BI vs data modelling vs data science vs AI).
- Works with the Head of Supply Chain & Manufacturing Value Stream and Head of Data, AI & Analytics to align Supply Chain & Manufacturing Data Product resources with the prioritised programme of work.
- Collaborates with Data Platform teams, Solution Architects, and other relevant IT stakeholders to scope technical requirements for business solutions.
- Prioritises Supply Chain & Manufacturing Data Product solutions against the backlog, accounting for business priorities and foundational enablement required; collaborates with other Data Product Owners to prioritise cross-functional data insight requests, ensuring requests are managed in a standardised manner; prioritises smaller, ad-hoc business requests (e.g., one-off data insight) in the Data Product backlog, ensuring that team resource times are adequately accounted for.
- Manages the Supply Chain & Manufacturing Data Product team to deliver the Supply Chain & Manufacturing Data Product roadmap, delivering valuable, robust, and secure data solutions for the Business; accountable for overall Data Product performance (e.g., delivery velocity, escalated issue resolution, Data Product roadmap realisation).
- Collaborates with the Data Governance team, relevant technical architects (BI or AI), data platforms owners and Information Security, Risk & Compliance teams to ensure Data Products are created, managed, and consumed in a standardised, secure, and compliant manner.
- Acts as an escalation point for data solutions relevant to Supply Chain & Manufacturing Value Stream to remediate product quality / performance issues.
- Develops a continuous improvement culture within the Supply Chain & Manufacturing Data Product team, encouraging the team to make meaningful improvements to overall Data Product performance.
- Conducts horizon scanning to identify opportunities for emerging technologies to improve existing processes and enhance Supply Chain & Manufacturing Data Product capabilities. Collaborate with solution architects, data platform owners and Data, AI and Analytics director to consider emerging technologies in the wider data ecosystem.
- Encourages the adoption of automation, self-service analytics, and AI-driven insights within the Data Product ecosystem.

Qualification & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology), or equivalent experience.
- Industry certifications highly desirable (e.g., Google Data Analytics, Agile Methodologies, CPM, SAFe® Product Owner).
- 8+ years of experience in Data Product management, business intelligence development, data engineering, data visualisation creation, or relevant roles.
- Comprehensive experience managing data delivery from requirements elicitation to design and deployment.
- Hands-on experience with data analytics platforms, BI tools, and data engineering frameworks (Tableau, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP BW / Datasphere, Azure Databricks, SQL, Python preferred).
- Experience in working with Supply Chain and Manufacturing data.
- Proven track record in defining and executing valuable Data Product strategies, realising tangible benefits for the Business.
- Evidenced ability to develop and maintain relationships with senior Business stakeholders, translating their high-level requirements into workable solutions.
- Strong ability to convey complex technology ideas to non-conversant audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for developing Data Product use cases and determining their associated value.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders, aligning on competing priorities and guiding Business teams on the feasibility of requests vs. technology constraints.
