Fáilte Ireland invites applications for the position of Support, Commercial Development within the Commercial Development Division. The role will report to the Officer, Commercial Development.

Job Purpose 

The international meetings industry is a highly lucrative sector and results in big business for Ireland. Fáilte Ireland has a dedicated team in place to drive responsible growth in international conferences, meetings and incentive or reward travel that positively impact our economy, society and environment.

Primary Objectives/Key Responsibilities

Strategic

  • Support the delivery of a collaborative, multi-stage process to ensure Ireland continues to secure high value international conferences aligned with the ambitions of Business Events 2030.

Operational

  • Generate qualified international leads and support sector leaders our conference ambassadors through practical and financial resources.

  • Conduct early stage lead generation that drives qualified, biddable international association conference opportunities for Ireland through desk research and pipeline management.

  • Inspire and empower prospective sector leaders to bid to host their international conferences.

  • Build awareness and interest among international associations that rotate their conferences globally.

  • Support the delivery of a relationship driven ambassador strategy, ensuring continuous engagement from initial contact through to bid and delivery.

  • Supporting conference organisers to make a positive social impact on local, national and global communities.

  • Supporting industry to deliver business events that achieve climate goals.

  • Support the team in delivering the implementation plan and realising success factors.

  • Contribute to the creation of the sales & marketing plans to drive high value business events to Ireland.

  • Supporting industry partners in their conversion practice.

  • Assist in the development of promotional events, bringing together Irish industry partners and international planners.

  • Support the maintenance of relationships with key stakeholders, the Management Team and Fáilte Ireland third party providers.

  • Adhere to all Fáilte Ireland policies e.g. procurement.

  • Provide support on the industry partner communications including website updates, communications and events.

Carry out all other duties as required and participate as a full member of the team by supporting different work projects, as required, from time to time.

  • ​The flexibility to travel domestically, internationally, and work unsociable hours will be required.

Person Specification 

Essential Criteria 

In order to be eligible to apply for this role you must have or demonstrate in your application form the following: 

  • Two years relevant experience to the role.

  • Experience of successfully interfacing with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve the necessary outcomes

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver clear, well‑structured and engaging presentations

  • A high level of proficiency in CRM, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications/Mandatory Training 

  • A Professional Qualification (minimum Level 6 under the QQI Framework) in a related discipline is essential.

Desirable Criteria 

  • Experience in the tourism sector is not essential but would be an advantage.

  • Knowledge of the Business or Leisure Tourist segments and their associated needs.

Selection Process 

Shortlisting will be based on applications and the selection process may involve two competency based interviews. A panel of successful candidates may be formed following the selection process.
