Support Pharmacist

The Support Pharmacist is responsible for providing pharmaceutical services in accordance with all legislative contractual, professional, and ethical obligations including ensuring prescriptions are safe and appropriate and dispensing medicines in accordance with all stranded operating procedures.   • Managing the dispensing process
  • Managing pharmacy stock levels effectively
  • Ensuring date checking is done according to store operations
  • Providing expert advice to patients regarding the safe and appropriate use of all medicines and complementary medicines
  • Providing guidance and expert advice to pharmacy staff about the safe and appropriate use of medicines - particularly over–the-counter (OTC) and pharmacy only medicines
  • Assessing patients’ symptoms, providing advice about treatment options and identify patients requiring a referral.
  • Supervising and directing the activities of pharmacy staff.
  • Creating and maintaining effective relationships with patients, customers, and other key pharmacy players, like suppliers.
  • Communicating effectively with a diverse range of people, including patients, pharmacy staff and other health professionals
  • Ensuring all pharmacy claims are correct and are transmitted within the required timeframe.

Skills and Experience

  • Registered Pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (with no conditions attached to registration)
  • Extensive experience in the operation of a community pharmacy (preferred but not essential)
  • Demonstrated capability to perform effectively as a pharmacist.
  • Ability to form effective relationships with all stakeholders and customers
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Great organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated commitment to the provision of quality services.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise work pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Honesty, integrity, and an understanding of the significance of confidentiality.
